Dune: Yea or Nay
How do you guys feel about David Lynch's version of Dune? Is it the low point of his career, or is it a misunderstood masterpiece? Or perhaps it's simply an alright movie that isn't really that great, but also isn't really that terrible? Discuss.

It's a great film in its own right that becomes disappointing when go into it expecting Lost Highway.

I never saw David Lynch's version. I have this version on DVD.
Also read the book in middle school. Love Dune. I never had much desire to see Lynch's version though because a nearly 14 hour miniseries struggled to do justice to all the details that the book has. I can't imagine how much a two hour film struggles with it. Last edited by Blank.; 06-06-2017 at 03:04 PM. |

Follows the book fairly well with decent acting. It's what turned me onto the book.
I read the book for a book report in eighth grade but wasn't able to finish the book in time for the report. So I used what happened in the show as a basis for the parts I didn't read. My teacher, who had read the book, had no clue I didn't finish the book. |
