Twin peaks spoiler thread!

Don't read on if you don't want it all spoiled for you :banghead:

Spectralmusic 05-25-2017 01:34 AM

So far I'm in love with it, there are more unfolding plot threads unfolding that it's hard to keep track of.

Each episode gives of heavy vibes of some of his previous movies but also feels completely NEW for Lynch. It's Lynch un-restrained, unleashed with no compromises, it's television history people!

Eraserhead? Blue velvet? Lost Highway? Mulholland Drive? Inland Empire? it's all there in places.

What is the box?
The thing that goes through the box and kills the young couple ****ing?
The shady groundskeeper guy?
The guy being jailed, his wife, the deputy?
Who is the billionaire?
What's Jacoby doing with them shovels?
The tree from another place?
Space?
Helllllooooo????
The woman with stitched eyes?
The mother?
Jefferies?
Cole and Alberts suspicions of Dopplecoop
We finally get to see Diane???

and muuuuuuch more!

that's all

GD 05-25-2017 02:15 PM

loved that scene

GD 05-25-2017 04:22 PM

@Spectralmusic: I'll post some theories towards some of your questions, but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable dropping the spoiler tags before I know that everyone else is caught up (though it's unlikely they'll even look at this thread if not)

Spoiler for theories:

see below under "The mother"
also, it could be that sex or strong emotions in general triggers the thing to appear. From the established canon of the show's universe, Black Lodge spirits are known to feed upon human emotions (although mostly negative ones; i.e. "garmonbozia"). Who knows? Maybe the previous guy that was briefly mentioned was trying to bust a nut on the job, which caused him to see what he saw?

Quote:

The shady groundskeeper guy?
I dunno, he seemed like a one-off character to me, but I could be wrong. I was kinda wondering the same thing about the drugged out mother in ep. 3, personally.

Quote:

What's Jacoby doing with them shovels?
The gold painting would seem to imply that they are to be used for opening of construction projects or something to that effect. Could be related to the Horne brothers' business possibly?

Quote:

The tree from another place?
The obvious out-of-universe explanation is a work-around for Michael J. Anderson no longer being involved With Twin Peaks, but otherwise it could be tied to the quote "Next time you see me, it won't be me" from the S2 finale, although it would make more sense for that to refer to Coop seeing the little guy's doppelgänger shortly afterwards in the same episode.
I have to admit though, I kinda chuckled at "I am the arm. This is what I sound like."

Quote:

Space?
Unsure. Could it be a previously unseen part of The Black Lodge? A very different visual motif if so.

Quote:

Helllllooooo????
I didn't make much of it. It just seemed like he was mimicking the other guy's behavior, like with everything else he said.

Quote:

The woman with stitched eyes?
The mother?
Some have theorized that the thing that appeared in the glass box could have been the "mother" that was banging on the door. I don't know though. It didn't seem to have any identifiably female traits from what I could see.
Also, the woman with eyes was played by Ronette Pulaski's actress. Don't know if that's relevant to the plot or just a cameo.

Quote:

We finally get to see Diane???
Now that would be something! Although it would kind of ruin the mystery

Goofle 05-25-2017 05:00 PM

The first time he shouted "Helllllooooo!" I almost died. Amazing stuff.

bob. 05-25-2017 09:41 PM

I'm pretty sure the thing in the box had breasts....so the mother theory may be on point

personally i never try to understand Lynch until my second watching....with this after the entire series

so far i am loving this....that 3rd episode is such a wonderful return to typical Lynch style and it's just such a relief to see something like this again...it reminds you just how genius he really is....just that opening sequence is so thought through and executed with perfection

Spectralmusic 05-26-2017 12:33 AM

I've read so many theories already that it's hard not to let it get to your head, lol

So far, this new series is a very very special and remarkable experience!

*screaming and sobbing* THAT SCENE WITH THE BOY at the same intersection where the screaming confrontation took place in FWWM!!! Dougiecoop!!! My sweet gentle Dougiecoop! DIANE!

I LOVE this season. The pacing and everything has been perfect.

Also I totally guessed that Chrysta Bell AND The Chromatics would be in the new season in some way or another.

Where are you watching it? I'll have to jump on at some point but I don't have Showtime.

I'm just using the Showtime free trial via my Amazon Prime free trial. (You could do that maybe?) Sooo I won't be able to watch it on there for much longer.

I'll try to find a rip when the season ends cause I don't wanna have to go through all that

grindy 06-13-2017 11:45 AM

Finished episode 5.
Loving it. It's even better than the original seasons in many ways, mostly by being all Lynch.
Some of the comedy is a bit cringey, but it's a minor issue and one I've already had with the old seasons.

Goofle 06-13-2017 02:16 PM

Blown away by the series so far. But where's AUDREY?!

Chiomara 06-13-2017 05:40 PM

Yes, where's Audrey? I miss Audrey terribly!

LoathsomePete 06-14-2017 09:20 AM

This probably reflects poorly on me but...
Spoiler for spoiler for part 6:
did anyone else laugh at first when the kid got hit by the truck?

Goofle 06-14-2017 09:22 AM

I laughed at the people's reactions for sure.

LoathsomePete 06-14-2017 09:28 AM

Spoiler for spoilers for part 6:
I mean the actual act of the hit and run,
I mean look at it

If I had the time to add a cartoon sound effect from Looney Toons or Tom & Jerry, it wouldn't be out of place.

Spectralmusic 06-19-2017 04:58 AM

Diane is a real tough woman! :D

grindy 06-23-2017 11:35 PM

After watching Twin Peaks before going to sleep recently, I had a dream about some vast, surreal conspiracy I had to solve with the help of my girlfriend who was Naomi Watt's character from the series. Somehow this involved doing cocaine and having sex in a mall.

LoathsomePete 06-24-2017 10:07 AM

I can see the connections.

GD 06-26-2017 08:45 AM

Got a light?

LoathsomePete 06-26-2017 01:05 PM

Oh good, and here I thought Twin Peaks was getting too pedestrian and episode 8 comes along and says "what was that? I couldn't hear you over my own insanity".

GD 06-26-2017 01:32 PM

^ikr? Just when I thought they had introduced every plotline for the remainder of the show, they drop this New Mexico thing on us, not to mention the rest of it. The nostalgia addicts are gonna hate this one though, whoo boy.

LoathsomePete 06-26-2017 01:51 PM

The nostalgia addicts can suck whatever genitals they find least appealing. Last week's episode was the conventional plot episode, this week's episode is pure David Lynch insanity that actually makes more sense when you read smarter-people-than-you's analysis' of the episode and realize it's actually more important to the spiritual lore of the show.

GD 06-26-2017 02:01 PM

Tru dat

Frownland 06-26-2017 10:27 PM

So behind. I've really been trying to get the most of it.

This is the water, and this is the well. Drink full, and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes, and dark within.

Chiomara 06-27-2017 04:54 PM

If I hadn't ever seen Twin Peaks before, and saw only this episode, I might have interpreted it as alternate interpretation of the story of the creation of the Demiurge. (wow that sentence was a disaster) Makes me think Lynch is possibly very interested in gnosticism these days. More so than he already may have been, that is. Gnosticism and spooky Jungian imagery go perfectly together, so that would be fantastic if that were actually the case.

I mean... Just read this extremely condensed run-down of the creation of the demiurge + Sophia from Wikipedia and compare it to this last episode:

Spoiler for ...:
"Sophia (Greek: Σοφία, lit. “wisdom”), the Demiurge’s mother a partial aspect of the divine Pleroma or “Fullness,” desired to create something apart from the divine totality, without the receipt of divine assent. In this act of separate creation, she gave birth to the monstrous Demiurge [[Bob!!]] and, being ashamed of her deed, wrapped him in a cloud and created a throne for him to be within it. The Demiurge, isolated, did not behold his mother, nor anyone else, concluded that only he himself existed, being ignorant of the superior levels of reality.

The Demiurge, having received a portion of power from his mother, sets about a work of creation in unconscious imitation of the superior Pleromatic realm: He frames the seven heavens, as well as all material and animal things, according to forms furnished by his mother; working however blindly, and ignorant even of the existence of the mother who is the source of all his energy. He is blind to all that is spiritual, but he is king over the other two provinces. The word dēmiourgos properly describes his relation to the material; he is the father of that which is animal like himself.[12]

Thus Sophia’s power becomes enclosed within the material forms of humanity, themselves entrapped within the material universe: the goal of Gnostic movements was typically the awakening of this spark, which permitted a return by the subject to the superior, non-material realities which were its primal source."

It totally makes sense!! So far, anyway.

Edit: And yes, I realize I am far from the first person who has ever thought this.

LoathsomePete 07-03-2017 03:52 PM

With no new episode last night my Monday is without meaning.

Audreyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

grindy 08-06-2017 02:08 PM

Naomi Watts flirting and having sex with Cooper after she sees him shirtless is so hot and hilarious.

Goofle 08-06-2017 03:29 PM

The rape scene was pretty weird tbf.

Chiomara 08-11-2017 10:39 PM

^ Yes, that was pretty uncomfortable.

I'm loving all of the convoluted Audrey theories that are on r/TwinPeaks right now.

bulbasaur 08-11-2017 11:35 PM

did we ever end up watching twin peaks on rabb.it
