Now that I've been reminded, I'll also add Orange Is the New Black and AHS. Something about the writing style irks me (on OITNB) -- it seems a bit smug and twee at times? Like it's impressed with its own cleverness? I haven't seen the latest season, and I did like the storylines of the older characters however I could not bear Piper's nonsense (or her weasel face) anymore.

AHS has always been a trainwreck. A couple seasons were vaguely entertaining trainwecks, I suppose, but the hotel one was dreadfully boring. (I was pleased that they used Sisters of Mercy's 'Neverland' in it, though)

..I also have given up on quite a few Korean dramas because while the good ones are wildly entertaining and rather endearing (and odd), many of them are forgettable.

Is "pretentious" the word you're looking for?

I tried the first and the third season but stopped after two or three episodes. It felt like they just had five too many writers on the team or something.

I haven't watched any Korean shows yet, but I've checked out a few Japanese dramas that ended up being pretty good. I also love just how almost philosophically sexist the Japanese can be. It doesn't come through as much in anime, but live action shows are ridiculous with that ****. It can be kind of off putting at times, but also hilarious.

Yes, I suppose so-- pretentious and twee.

Often the first few episodes are at least somewhat bearable, but yes, it rapidly devolves into a mess of completely unnecessary sub-plots due to the 2938429342304 side characters. Wildly inconsistent writing. I desperately need a good horror show.

Are any of those on netflix? I've never seen a single one. You'd need to have a fairly high cheese threshold to bear the Korean shows; they are incredibly silly. (the romantic ones and historical dramas anyway)

I don't have Netflix so I couldn't tell you. This is where I go for my pirated Asian dramas.

There's so many things! :0

I'm obviously going to have to watch this one:

"During a vacation trip, Du Ze Ming went missing and was then raised up by a wolf king since young. Although he has left the human society for a long time, he did not forget his abilities as a human. He is smart, agile, and knows how to hunt. He met Tian Mi, a photographer, and saved her when she almost fell into a hole."

Lulz. A Taiwanese ripoff of Tarzan.
