Default TV shows cancelled before their time

We've all been watching a series, enjoyed it, hoped for the next season and then BANG! Cancelled. Moan about those shows here, and maybe say why you liked them or thought they should have been given a better chance to gain ratings.

Brimstone: At its time, one of the most clever and incisive shows around, with dead cop Zeke Stone makes a deal with the devil: he will be released from Hell in order to track down hundreds of damned souls that have escaped and returned to Earth. Star turn by John Glover as the Prince of Darkness, and the whole thing had a real film-noir/Angel Heart thing going. It should have been a huge hit but didn't even get one season.

V: The reboot. I really enjoyed it, and the damn thing ended on a cliffhanger.

Threshold: Another one cancelled mid-season, even though Brannon Braga was involved. Great idea about an alien virus. Not unique, no, but well written and deserved better than it got.

The Following: As per my comments in the main thread, I had hoped this would develop and grow, but they cancelled it after season three, leaving many loose ends, well, loose.

Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles: Trying to bring a huge franchise like this to the small screen was a tall order, and the show suffered a little in season two, but was really picking up at the end, and about to go in a new, shocking direction when the axe fell. On a related note, it featured Lena Headey, who we would all go on to love and loathe as Cersei Lannister.

I'm sure there are, sadly, many others, and I'l return to them in due course.

I was gonna mention The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Loved that show. But I couldn't much get into V cause the writing was so melodramatic. The dialogue reminded me of Lost, and that show was borderline unwatchable for me.

The first thing that came to mind was that show The Riches with Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. I haven't watched it in years and kind of have the feeling it being cancelled was for the best but the characters were so great.

I would have said Humans a few weeks back except that they renewed it on AMC. Starts Monday so i'm patiently anticipating it.

Deadwood was the most disappointing cancellation for me, loved that show. Rumor has it they are going forward with a movie and the original writers are involved, so that might remedy the loss.

I was also pissed when HBO cancelled Vinyl, especially at such a pivotal point in the season. Vinyl captured the intensity of rock and roll unlike any film or series I've ever seen.

Happy Town: it was slow and only had a chance to air 6 episodes.

Quote:
A period of peace following a series of unsolved kidnappings is cut short when a new crime has everyone talking in the small Minnesota town of Haplin.[3] The townsfolk are convinced the crimes are committed by the so-called "Magic Man", a person whom character Merritt Grieves describes as having "an ability to make people disappear that bordered on the mystical". Seven people have vanished, never to be heard from again.

As the series progresses, it seems evident that the disappearances are related to an old German film titled Die Blaue Tür (The Blue Door).

Firefly...
The world is in dire need of more space westerns.

Also Bunheads. (That's the only other one I can recall right now)

And didn't Dead Like Me get cancelled, too? That one was great.

I still need to watch Deadwood! It looks spectacular.

There was only one season of Fishing With John, which was excellent, but it might have lost its charm after one season.

Then there's Lars Von Trier's Riget, which ended its second series with enough cliffhangers and unresolved plot points to make a corpse sit up in suspense, only to never be renewed for a third series.
