I just checked on her. She's been RPing all day and has reached a point of dizziness and inability to stand so she'll be collapsing in bed in the next few minutes.

As a next-best plan, I'm inviting our mutual friend who proposed the outing over for a home screening this weekend. My speakers can certainly match the theatre experience. We'll just have to settle for the comfort of home.

Batty - if you were here, I'd man-date with you to see it on the big screen. I'd even buy you candy and popcorn.

That was probably my favourite season. The wonderfully homicidal Elizabeth surrounded by terrified supplicants and toadies.

Edit: oh and of course this (spoiler alert)

I would so totally show up and provide my own intense weeb enthusiasm and eat all your popcorn (preferably kettlecorn).

But you have an entire world of anime nerdistry to explore if you've only just discovered Ghost in the Shell. If I were you I'd ask my friend if he wants to turn GotS into a double feature with Akira. Any anime nerd who wouldn't want to watch both movies in a quasi-theater environment isn't worth the title.

After that then you absolutely, completely, and utterly must watch everything made by Hayao Miyazaki. He's pretty much the closest analogue to Walt Disney you will ever find, Japanese or otherwise. He is a ****ing genius of ridiculous proportions.

Thanks, Bat. I will follow your recommendation. I've heard all the standard required viewings - Akira, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro... both my wife and our mutual friend are anime devotees so I'm in good hands for some education.

I'll schedule a weekly flick with our friend - I'm sure he'd be delighted to take part.

Thanks!

Lol, except for Akira, all of those movies are by Hayao Miyazaki, just to give you an idea of how awesome he is.
