The later Starcraft titles where you actually play against people look a lot more interesting than the boring ol' running-through-barren-hallways crap that you were doing in one of the more recent videos

Unfortunately my laptop isn't powerful enough to record more modern games. I Can run StarCraft 2 fine, but I doubt that the FPS required for recording that **** would support it. I tried Alien: Isolation, but the FPS was so ****ed that even on low settings it was unwatchable. Even Condemned: Criminal Origins was frakked at times, even though it is ten-years-old.

I suspect that I need an actual computer to record anything from the turn of the century.

And do you really have no love for the second StarCraft video where I am drunk as a skunk? And I was actually recording a video of the next stage, where you play with actual bases, but I was just too ****ed up to comprehend what I was supposed to do. Tried it twice and I just couldn't do it. In my defense, I had finished six 16 oz Steele Reserves beforehand.

Ah. Well either way you're off to a good start from what I can tell. A channel that only let's plays older games can still be a ton of fun to follow.

I only watched one of the Starcraft videos and I think it was the most recent. I'll give that one a shot to see if I'm more entertained.

That would be this video, my second to last. The ones after the last one I uploaded were so ****ed as far as strategy goes that they're absolute crap, while somehow I was also not drunk enough to be particularly entertaining. Not even going to publish them.

The Batlord 04-19-2016 07:05 PM

Oh, and my Youtube name was "Arnold Palmer", and no matter how unlikely it may be that I might make some money off of this, if I ever did, I imagine that I might have some issues with the real Arnold Palmer or his family. Even Batlord is copyrighted by some ****ty band. So I was thinking either Baron von DoomFist or something from Carcass' lyrics. Like Corporal Griskin. Has a nice ring to it.

Any suggestions?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 04-19-2016 07:14 PM

I don't care as long as Ke$ha is somehow involved.

Black Francis 04-19-2016 07:17 PM

Baron von Doomfist sounds pretty cool actually. it's a little long though but i like the idea of it starting with Baron.

Baron von Douche. there ya go.. now you can start your vids with "What up douches" instead of bros.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 04-19-2016 07:17 PM

What about Baron von Douchefist?

The Batlord 04-20-2016 03:21 AM

Went with Baron von DoomFist. I was inspired to create the name years ago while watching Venture Brothers, with Baron Unterbheit, but I just never used it since I was always The Batlord. There's no way anyone could possibly have come up with something so stupid and arbitrary, so there shouldn't be any copyright things. I do wish I could've stayed Arnold Palmer though. I loved Arnold Palmer.

And god damn was I wasted playing StarCraft last night. I had to abandon not one, but two videos of the next mission cause it actually required tactics that I was far too wasted to be able to concentrate on. Might end up posting them anyway, as sort of a bloopers thing, but one was fifty minutes long, so...

Key 04-20-2016 10:50 AM

Should've went with BoozeTube.

The Batlord 04-20-2016 12:24 PM

I am not at all proud of this, but here's almost two hours of me being far too drunk to be in front of a camera. It's not David Hasselhoff eating a hamburger on the floor bad, but it's... it's not good. So, if you've ever wondered how I'd be in person while wasted, here's your chance, but be warned, the first video starts with five-and-a-half minutes of me just rambling before I even play the goddamn game, and it just kinda goes on from there.

You know, there are several parts of those videos that make me laugh (like loudly blowing my nose on camera for all the world to see/hear), parts that are tedious (like when one of my countless rambles reaches the second minute), and some that just make me cringe. That segment is one of the more cringe-worthy.

The Batlord 04-21-2016 03:06 AM

God damn that went long, and made me look like a trve n00b. Oh, and while my computer isn't good enough to record Alien: Isolation, and not quite good enough even for an eleven-year-old game like Condemned: Criminal Origins, I think I've found the perfect horror game to do that my comp will be able to handle: System Shock 2. It's from mother****ing 1999 and only costs $10 on Steam.

****, the original Deus Ex is only $7 and came out in 2000. That should work. I played the demo way, way, way back in the day, but never actually bought the game, and I've been thinking about it ever since getting Human Revolution.

The Batlord 04-22-2016 10:52 AM

To anyone still interested in this thread, I have not flaked. I was busting my ass recording yesterday, but all my videos had out-of-sync audio, and I don't have the expertise or proper software to fix those, so I eventually just gave up. It's payday today, so I'm taking the day off to drink, listen to music, watch Game Grumps, catch up on my growing stack of unread comics, and in general do nothing useful.

But tomorrow night I'll be starting...

Spoiler for Dun dun DUN!!!:

For once, an old game actually works on my computer without me having to fight it, and while there's a weird issue of the recording only showing a black screen when I start in-game (though it seems to work fine when I start recording before I launch the game), with any luck there will be no technical issues.

The only thing that will be bothersome is that my camera only shows me as a dark blob with the lights out (and I'm not playing a horror game with the lights on), but I think I've figured out how to jury rig some lighting that won't detract from the experience.

And since I'm off on Sunday I'll be able to pull an all-nighter. Kinda stoked for this.

Black Francis 04-22-2016 11:05 AM

Have a good day bruh, oh, and watch the grumps playthrough of Bloodborne. it has little gems such as this one.

Idk that new game you'll be playing but i did see part of your drunk playthrough and it was funny.

That's pretty ****ing amazing. And how on Earth could anyone who watched the cartoon ever think that Raphael was the leader? And people who think that he was the best turtle are just wrong. Michelangelo was a ****ing stoner, and clearly the best Ninja Turtle.

System Shock 2 isn't a new game, you moronic moron from Moron Land. It's from 1999, and considered one of the scariest games ever made. Apparently it was also the spiritual predecessor to Bioshock (or some ****, idk) and was made by the same people. All I know is that if my computer can't handle recording a seventeen-year-old game without FPS issues, then all hope is lost.

You R-tard, i meant new as in the new game you'll be playing. And do you even turtle? Michelangelo is not the best one, that would be Donatello.

I'll check out your system shock playthrough once you post it. ive never heard of that game until now.

All the turtles were cool, but Donatella was the third best (does anyone actually rep Leonardo?)

If you've ever seen my posts about Alien: Isolation then you know I'm a ****ing pussy when it comes to horror games, so it should be entertaining watching me **** myself.

Edit: And I only know the game by reputation. I've never seen any videos of it, so this will be a totally blind playthrough for me. All I know is that it involves an evil, rogue AI trying to kill you with space zombies or something.

The Batlord 04-22-2016 02:19 PM

I was gonna take a break, but I love doing videos, and this was a mindless enough game that it didn't feel like a time investment. I told myself I wasn't gonna upload any videos with FPS issues, but they're not too bad, and I don't think they detract much, so here is my video of the first level of Brutal Doom, a mod of the original Doom, years in the making, that came out around the beginning of this year. Hopefully I'll be able to tweak my recording software's settings so that I can completely fix the frame rate stuff, cause I'd love to keep doing this series without any hiccups. I've got some playlists that would kick ass while killing demons and zombies.

Brutal Doom mod - Mod DB

Figure out how to get this **** to work on your own. I had to and I'm lazy and drunk. It's really not that hard.

The Batlord 04-22-2016 05:09 PM

Part 2 of Brutal Doom. Sweet game, but I just wanna know if the FPS issues make people not wanna watch these videos, cause I don't think I can make them any better. I think they're not too bad, but there's definitely an issue, and while I would love to continue this, I don't want to waste everybody else's time. Either way, you should play this **** cause it's awesome, and you should play it at maximum volume, cause the sound level in these videos does not do justice to just how loud and awesome the gunshot sounds in this game are. They are borderline deafening.

The Batlord 04-24-2016 06:05 PM

Here's part 1 of my System Shock 2 playthrough. I actually recorded this two nights ago, but needed to edit out about half of it, as it was a bunch of training **** that nobody would want to watch, and I was lazy. But at least I now know the basics of editing videos, so...

The Batlord 04-24-2016 07:18 PM

And yet again, nostalgia fails me...

Gonna download an actual good MechWarrior game and see what's up.

The Batlord 04-26-2016 07:26 PM

Back in the saddle with StarCraft 1.

The Batlord 04-26-2016 10:23 PM

The Batlord 04-27-2016 02:46 AM

The Anti-Let's Play (AKA, this is what you do when it's 3am, you can't sleep, and you have to be at work in three hours.) I honestly don't know how the sound will be for other people, since I forgot to turn off my equalizer settings that are adjusted for my ****ty Skullcandy headphones, but I guess that might add to the endurance test.

I honestly

Frownland 04-27-2016 06:14 AM

Hit up some meme pages with that **** and you'll be huge.

The Batlord 04-27-2016 10:45 AM

Meme pages? What could possibly be turned into a meme on that video? Or am I just being ****ed with? I'm tired and need to go sleepy bye.

Frownland 04-27-2016 10:57 AM

Memes aren't just photos and white text anymore.

The Batlord 04-27-2016 02:34 PM

Wait, is that what vines are? Just meme videos?

The Batlord 04-28-2016 04:06 PM

God damn it, there are some minor FPS issues that make no sense. It's almost a twenty-year-old game. It works mostly fine, but occasionally not so much.

The Batlord 04-29-2016 11:41 AM

Finally got back around to System Shock 2. ****'s ramping up.

The Batlord 04-30-2016 06:35 PM

New playthrough. Deus Ex. If you don't know it, then you're a bitch.

The Batlord 05-01-2016 01:40 PM

Don't edit and drive, kids.

The Batlord 05-02-2016 03:01 PM

Either fortunately or unfortunately for me, I do a lot of work while drunk. Loud workers made it hard to do anything today, but I recorded so many videos on Saturday while plaster-... uh... drun- uh... completely ****ed up, that I have a bit of a cushion. So I finally did the next segment of Beneath a Steel Sky.

The Batlord 05-04-2016 10:47 AM

All the loud construction work around my house makes it hard to record videos, but luckily I tend to record several videos a day when I'm drunk, so I have a little backlog I can fall back on for the moment.

The Batlord 05-09-2016 08:37 PM

Me like record while beer.

The Batlord 05-20-2016 04:49 PM

Completely forget to post this. Probably been sitting around on my channel for a week.

The Batlord 06-01-2016 03:07 PM

I haven't been all that enthused about the videos I've been doing recently. I liked some of the earlier videos where I was playing old games that were hard and that ****ed with me, but without a PC controller those games aren't as fun as they should be, and so I'm gonna wait to do any more of those until I get one. A lot of the other games I was doing just didn't feel like they lended themselves to ME, if that makes sense.

So I'm considering doing something on stuff I can really put some of my expertise into: metal. Thinking about what I could bring to the table, and obviously thrash metal would be right up my alley, but I'm really digging the idea of a history of 1st Wave Black Metal.

Like, a "prologue" episode about the very beginnings, like the aesthetic and musical influences of Black Sabbath, Motorhead, etc. Then a first episode on Venom. And I'd move onto episodes about Bathory, Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate, the thrash bands that started out as black metal (like Slayer, Sepultura, Possessed, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, etc), and stuff like that.

I'm curious as to who would care about that, and if so, what your ideas about what I should do and how the format should be. I have no definitive plans so far, so any thoughts would be up for consideration. Of course I might just be drunk and this whole idea could just fall by the wayside. I'm just thinking of stuff to experiment with to see how I want to do my channel, even if it means entirely changing the format.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-01-2016 05:05 PM

I think it would be really awesome to see. You could always do it as a podcast of sorts, and just dig into the group and talk about their history, their releases, their importance to the genre etc.

It would be cool if you did some sort of recommended listening to accompany it too. For example, if you did an episode on the first wave of bm, you could do an essential 5 albums from the first wave, or if you did a Bathory episode, maybe do 10 Bathory songs for beginners or something along those lines.

The Batlord 10-04-2017 02:16 PM

I've been planning on this for about a month but have been lazy. So I'm gonna be playing the first Penumbra throughout the month of October. Penumbra is basically the game that the company who made Amnesia broke their teeth on, and is basically a dry run for Amnesia. I'm a complete and utter pussy for horror games, as in shoot me in the head I'm so scared of even contemplating this **** that you might as well stick a fork in me. I'll be playing tonight and putting up a video tomorrow hopefully, so stay tuned for me being a complete pussy.

And yeah it'd be a let's play and not a stream cause I'm not about to do a modern game on stream and have 3/4 of the stream be unwatchable cause of my ****ty connection.
