A romance film doesn't have to be sappy to be good just like a a horror film doesn't have to be violent to be scary.

and double btw i think i would claim Spike Jonze as the 3rd best working director behind denis villeneuve and steve mcqueen

edit - oh wait actually, michael haneke has a film coming out in 2017 so i guess i take that back. drop him to 4.
You're making me proud Qwerty.

Oh and the Coen Bros are very hit or miss lately. I wasn't a fan of Hail Ceasar and thought A Simple Man and True Grit could have been better.

didn't like Hail Ceasar much either, although it did have some moments of greatness here and there like the musical number with Channing Tatum in the bar.

I thought that A Simple Man was one of their best movies tbh.

I meant to post that when I first saw it like two days ago but I'm a bit disappointed with the direction they took..

I was expecting to see the main character go explore and find out more about the engineers home world. It seemed like she was taking the fight to them but it might not be as aggressive of an action as I had in mind.

this trailer has four very important things DJ

1. face hugging
2. dudes back being split open
3. Danny McBride
4. Alien interrupting people having sex in a shower and covering the chick in tons of blood

/movieoftheyear2017 (except for maybe Star Wars.....and maybe Thor)

I didn't know where else to put this and didn't want to make a new thread, so for those of you who don't already know and might be interested:
