Nice idea from Trollheart. Noticed nobody has included any Dracula films, unless that's going to be a separate topic.

Dracula- The original Dracula film with Lugosi that started the whole Universal horror film cycle in the 30s and 40s. The film has some trouble with pacing but hell this was something new for 1931 and Dwight Fyre as Renfield steals the show.

Dracula's Daughter- Stylish follow-up to the previous film with an exotic Gloria Holden.

Nosferatu the Vampyre - Anything with Klaus Kinski in is worth watching even when its bad, but luckily this one is just the opposite and teams him Kinski with Werner Herzog and Bruno Ganz.

Nosferatu - Vintage silent classic and still revered today.

Horror of Dracula- The Hammer revamp of the series with Christopher Lee.

The Brides of Dracula- One of Hammer's most stylish horrors and features a Dracula cult and Dracula doesn't even appear.

Dracula A.D 1972- One of the first Dracula films to be set in a modern day setting.

From Dusk til Dawn- Great example of a cult film and the first Rodriguez film I think I ever saw.

Near Dark- Always been a fan of this western type vampire movie and another cult film.

Shadow of the Vampire- Great film with a great performance by Willem Dafoe.

and Buffy the Vampire Slayer the tv series was always great fun

I've only seen three that I can remember.

Queen of the Damned - I only went to see this because Aaliyah(<3), honestly don't remember much about it except how sexy she looked.
Dracula: Dead and Loving It - Hilarious if you're a fan of of Nelson movies.
From Dusk til Dawn - Corny, but I enjoyed it. Haven't watched it in like ~10+ years.

I enjoyed the first few seasons of Trueblood before it started getting out of control.

Top ten music related films. I'm not including documentaries because there are too many and obviously Some Kind of Monster would be no. 1.

1. O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Hilarious Coen brothers film where Clooney proved to the world that he could be funny. Based on Homer's Odyssey, three escaped prisoners are on a hunt for treasure. In the meantime, they come across sirens, a blind man who'll pay you ten dollars to sing in a can, the kkk, and they catch the ears of millions across the state thanks to radio technology being on the rise. So many one liners in this film, so little time. Chock full of contemporary bluegrass.

2. Sound of Noise - Brilliant and hilarious Swedish-French film about a tone deaf police officer from a family of composers pursuing musicians terrorizing the city with performance art. Great music and lots of laughs.

3. This Is Spinal Tap - Classic. Go watch if you want to be entertained now that you've crawled out from under your rock.

4. Big Time - This is a Tom Waits live performance film filled with odd sketches and eccentric bits. Bloody brilliant soundtrack on this one, it's my favourite Waits album.

5. The Pianist - Bleak Holocaust film following a pianist (no shit. Also, heh, pianist) in a concentration camp. It has Adrian Brody's best performance of his career and some beautiful piano playing scenes.

6. The Piano Teacher - Disturbing and NSFW film from Michael Haneke. It highlights the relationship between a masochist piano teacher (duh) and a hesitantly sadistic student of hers. The ending of this film is one of the most powerful in all of cinema.

7. Frank - Another movie about an experimental musician who wears a helmet thing. Lots of people have asked me if I've seen this so if you were wondering, yes I have seen it.

8. Dancer in the Dark - A dark musical that will make you cry your goddamn eyes out and ruin your life for a couple of months. ****. I can't even write about it without getting misty. Go look at the imdb page or something to find out what it's about.

9. (Untitled)[/b] - 2009 film about a composer who meets an art gallery lady and they get it on. This movie pokes fun at the art world while maintaining a respect for it.

10. Whiplash - Drum porn.

Most of our picks would be the same, but a movie I highly recommend checking out that fits your theme is August Rush. I absolutely love that film to death, one of my favorites. I imagine you haven't seen it because if you had it would almost certainly have been in your honorable mentions at the very least.

To be fair, the remake is very well done as well. I just don't see the point.

Vampire themed my top films would be:

The lost boys - Cause this the only vampire film that has legitimately scared me. I was too young when i watched it, i saw it again as an adult and it wasn't scary but it still holds up as a good film.

From Dusk till dawn - Cause this film is just good gory entertainment it just so happens that's it's about Vampires.

Underworld: Evolution- Cause Kate Beckinsale looks extra hot on that one.

I also like the Blade movies especially Trinity cause that's the cheesiest one.

Vampires?

Interview with the vampire. We got our hands on Vampire : The Masquerade when it came and it was a real buzz. The romantic, gothy, Anne Rice-y vampires of the 90s was a big part of my teens.

Bram Stoker's Dracula - There are some horrible performances here. Keanu Reeves does some of the worst acting for his pay grade. Still, the movie is fun and even if Wynona Ryder and Keanu are wooden, Tom Waits and Anthony Hopkins goofy, Gary Oldman makes up for it all with the best ever vampire portrayal. Even better than Max Schreck.

Other than those two, Låt Den Retta Komme Inn and Only Lovers Left Alive I enjoyed. Near Dark from the 80s was good. The original Nosferatu is cool, but drags a bit. I enjoyed Werner Herzog's Dracula the Vampyre. Both the original Fright Night and the remake are pretty enjoyable.

Movies I don't like so much are Thirst, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, From Dusk Till Dawn, Lost Boys ..

I might add Lifeforce to my list though because it has a sexy space-vampiress in it, awesome 80s horror effects and a scene where Patrick Stewart gets repeatedly slapped in the face and called a bitch.
