How many of you bastards went to the Fallout 4 release party? I did, it was awesome and I got my nuke pack before all of ya'll. I'm currently updating a driver so I can play, it keeps crashing on start up.

I just realized, after sitting around for the previous year and wondering what to do with my life, that I wanted to be a writer. Seems like a no-brainer, since it's the only thing I'm even half good at, but it didn't really hit me until that moment that I should even try. So I spent the last few days digging up all of my old random stories that I've half-written over the years, seeing if I should finish any of them before starting anything new.

I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall games on a monthly basis because of this, especially with all of these games coming out. With a physical disc, this is much easier, because the base install only takes a few minutes before I'm able to launch the game, and I only have to deal with the updates, then. I have good internet, but I can't imagine the frustration of downloading a 50GB game plus updates because I had to uninstall it before for another game and now want to play it again. Good internet or not, that takes a long time. Not to mention that some people live in areas with heavily capped data plans or just slow internet in general. Not everyone can just conveniently download huge ass games. Games are getting bigger at a faster rate than hard drives can keep up with, at least on the consoles. It's not really a case of people not wanting to adapt to digital media, but more of a case of technological factors that still make physical media more attractive and convenient for consumers. |

Longest installation. Ever. (5 hours total... )
But it was worth every second! Since I'm a fan of both fps games and rpg games, the new Fallout is really a blast for me to play. Gunplay mechanics are tight, finally. Character creation is simplified, but I don't really mind. So far I'm lvl 19, running around in all legendary gear, with a backpack of highly customized weapons.. and I love it. I'm also very pleasantly surprised by the technical aspect of the game - not only does it run very well on my rig that was only making the cut for minimal requirements - I play on med details in full hd, it's also very stable (1 crash in 15 hours of gameplay) and very few bugs so far. Also, I think it's the first time since Fallout 2 I have a hard choice choosing companions - so many great ones. |

So is Fallout 4 as good as 3 and New Vegas?
