Yesterday I finished the game. Yay ? Not really. The Brotherhood of Steel quest line was ... it reminded me of fallout 3 - it was almost good, but not good enough. I won't spoil anything but I have to say the BoS way must be the least interesting way of finishing the game. I mean I hope it is, if it's not.. it will make me sad.
I also have to agree with what PCGamer Uk wrote in an article - Fallout 4 is a very good shooter, but it's not that good an RPG. I enjoyed id immensely but I like both shooters and RPG games. For someone who wants to minimize the shooting aspect, it will be boring. Anyway, here's some screenshots to wrap up my Boston adventure, for now at least. The 1st one is a fully upgraded x-01 torso and helmet and t-60 arms and legs power armor with a very nice paint job and.. a jetpack The other 3 are my final base - Kingsport Lighthouse. It is imo the prettiest settlement out there, initially it looks like this: And after I'm done with it: |

That's some random screenshot of the place I took from the internet, it does look bad but the game does not.
I play it on med and in 1600x900 and it looks .. well, it doesn't look next gen. But it looks good and amazing at times - especially when the radiation storm is rolling in or when the sun blinds you. And yes, the BoS quest line.. is very similar to what was going on in F3. That's why I'm currently on a quest to blow them up. I also have a new huge construction project in mind, but I'll post the details if and when it materializes |

really struggling to figure out which faction to join
The railroad: -need to bang currie -only group with chill people -presumable have synth experts that would benfit mankind BUT -limited medical expertise -no defense -limited staff -only focus seems to be on synth preservation, less concern for wasteland population large scale Brotherhood of steel a. military presence best possibility of removing mutation, toxic waste and other wasteland threats b. National presence, closest to establishing national communication networks and government architecture c. library but -would they kill currie? -eliminate wastelander freedoms, ruled by authoritarian power which is anti-progressive which doesn't seem good The Institue a. bang currie b. best group of experts in various fields c. most likely to develop new treatment options d. probably most vital for realistically reobtaining something resembling previous status of life but a. like everyone else, no care for common people b. blatant disregard for any semblance of moral foundation which seems questionable in a ruling party I'm still leaning towards brotherhood of steel just because you need that manpower, I just don't see the wasteland being fixed by a small group of synth humpers, but the institute would likely be second option. I think I may have to go with the railroad inadvertantly based on gameplay decisions. The game has waaay too much killing though. This has probably been mentioned. Sometimes I'm surrounded by different militias in every direction its ridicoulous for a barren wasteland to be this populated by foes can't take a step anywhere. I miss the politics of new vegas |

You can actually finish the game with the Minutemen, using the Railroad only to decode the courser chip. And just how formidable the Minutemen are depends on you - most of their quests are settlement related, I got 28 settlements up and running with one of my characters. Now that should be enough people and a big enough presence to start rebuilding, right ? And they have the best imo hq of all the factions.
Here it is, my Castle, built entirely without mods, somehow I can't get them to work.. (all mods except for those that add new building options work fine). I only used one trick - settlements can't be too big, their size meter fills up very quickly and usually before you can build half of what you want, you can't build anymore. The trick is to scrap weapons Sounds silly and it is- it's a bug. Simply enter the settlement construction area, throw away some weapons to the ground, enter construction mode and scrap them from there - each one will count as a scrapped building and will decrease this size meter slightly. And the scrap you get from them gets transferred to the workbench. Anyway, here are some final shots of my castle, it might not be the most complex of the castles out there, but it is functional. I can't really show you the inside of "my house" as I've installed a mod that replaces all those dull original paintings with either classic masterpieces or.. pinup girls So even though they are very stylish, google might go bat**** crazy over cartoon nipples on a game screenshot .. The main (and only) gate, yet to be seriously threatened by any attack Here's the courtyard, with all the shops, a crafting area and my house in the background. I fixed all the walls too. A different angle shot that shows more details and a lovely garden/gazebo area in the back |
