yeah i've seen a seperation and the past, but not his newest film.

he's good but nowhere near as great as kiarostami was.

what do you got for that

What elements of The Shining are you hoping for? If you like a central character's descent into madness have you seen Repulsion?

Or ''M'', ''Shock Corridor'', ''Onibaba'' etc

Mondo Bungle 04-30-2017 03:12 PM

I've been intrigued by M for a long time now. You'd be surprised how many times I've tried to come to musicbanter on a different computer, forgetting it wouldn't autofill in the search bar, and just hit M then enter and searched it

also I dunno really what I want when I said that since I'm coming to realize that the best horrors are all distinctly unmatchable.

The Shining has on point aesthetic

Mondo Bungle 05-03-2017 03:09 PM

The Batlord 05-03-2017 05:25 PM

Kind of sort of a haunted house movie.

Chiomara 05-03-2017 05:39 PM

And also The Orphanage

Frownland 05-03-2017 05:42 PM

The most original haunted house film. I know you've seen it Mondo, I just need to rep it when I can.

Justthefacts 05-11-2017 06:35 PM

Anything on par with John Carpenters The Thing as far as gruesome practical effects go?

djchameleon 05-11-2017 07:17 PM

Altered, Slither and Turistas.

The last one is torture porn so not sure if you wanna see that.

The last ten minutes of Society. Also, Wishmaster has some really fun practical effects. :thumb:

Wim Wenders "Wings of Desire" is among my favourite movies but I've never seen the sequel "Faraway So Close". I'm having trouble finding it here for streaming, DVD rental or just buying it outright. Just wondering if I'm wasting my time trying to get a copy or if in your opinion it's a movie worth pursuing?

Also "Pina" his documentary on Pina Bausch. Normally dance is my most loathed art form but this actually looks interesting.

Frownland 08-10-2017 12:53 AM

Can I have, uh, boneless cool unique arty dark movies and **** I'd like.

Exo 08-14-2017 09:34 AM

Boneless?

Frownland 08-14-2017 09:49 AM

Ja I don't like the ones with chicken bones you know.

Right, well I haven't been watching too many films recently so I'll just leave one or two. Sorry if you've seen them but I'll try to pick two you haven't...

Simon Killer
The Childhood of a Leader

First one stars Brady Corbet and the second one is directed by him.

Frownland 08-14-2017 10:00 AM

I thought Childhood of a Leader was a Greenaway film for some reason. I'll check them both out.

Mondo Bungle 09-03-2017 06:44 PM

Hanna, Haywire.

I feel like Looper fits in even though it has sci fi elements to it.

Exo 09-07-2017 08:25 AM

Leon, The Professional/Ghostdog: Way of the Samurai/Mad Max Fury Road/Sicario/Rover

Frownland 12-30-2017 10:21 AM

Bitch that's ABC. They're the lower middle class to CW's ghetto.

I'm sorry but I am staunchly against the superhero monolith. You of all people should know this.

I understand that you hate fun and apparently universes with nearly a century of diverse stories and characters. There couldn't possibly be anything there for you after all.

It's half about hating fun and half about not wanting to feed trend hopping execs.
