Competitive League of Legends
Alright so as far as I know the only regulars here that are interested in specific eSports at all are DwnWthVwls and myself and since it seems like we both focus on League I made this thread for that game specifically. If there are any other games with a fanbase here that can have it's own thread which would be great!
Anyway for now it seems like this thread will be solely DWV and me chatting about LCS/LCK/GPL/etc results but if there are any more that are already invested or interested in getting into it we can definitely help getting you acclimated with all the important stuff to know Anyway LCS starts THIS WEEK and I am PUMPED. First game of the NA split is Cloud 9 vs TSM which is how it should always be, start things off with the greatest western rivalry in the sport 8) Also, disclaimer: I had specific permission from mods to make this topic completely off-limits from any off-topic posting, so if you want to come tell us that we're dumb for enjoying this hold your breath and go post it somewhere else because I'll report the post. |
Do you want me to move this to the sports sub-forum?

Big3 also plays League. Idk if he follows pro scene though.

Also, I'd love to see an American team beat Korea. Otherwise I'm a big ol' "meh" |
This is apparently a thing: Fantasy LCS
Join the league if its not full: http://fantasy.lolesports.com/share/...bDjOMUc909IHZ5 |
Sounds cool, but I don't have an interest in fantasy leagues. I just enjoy watching pro strats/games.

And also an NA team has beaten a Korean team lately, TSM did a couple tournaments ago anyway but at the most recent international tournament TSM got shrekt |
I'm looking forward to seeing these new teams perform. I didn't watch any of the summer split qualifiers so I have no idea what to expect. Fingers crossed for a new powerhouse.
Any major roster changes? I haven't been following it since last season ended. |

Also Link was kicked off CLG and replaced by Pobelter and some other guy, they might cycle between those two I'm not sure
|
Hai kicked off? Like he's not even subbing or coaching? I hate how fucking volatile these teams are.
Also, Link > Pobelter. He's still young and not as consistent. |
Quote:
Link wrote a huge article about how the CLG environment was extremely toxic and he wasn't enjoying being there anymore anyway, so a roster change there will help in the morale department even if Pobelter is slightly worse |
the three of us should get a game going.
|
I'll let you guys know when I'm back at my apartment with my PC and looking to play
|
I'm usually around after 5pm EST.
|
It has officially begun: Riot Games LCS- Twitch TV
|
Re: us playing.
Until the 4th I can't be relied upon, but I'm hoping on shortly tonight. Happy to fill, prefer not-top |
I've been checking out the EU results but I generally don't watch too closely until the playoffs
However NA starts today and I'm extremely excited for that and will probably watch every game this weekend. Get hype!!! |
I'm guessing TSM wins pretty easily against c9 with a new mid unless they have been slacking over the break, or scrimming with c9 a lot.
|
what the **** was that ****
|
Well I was wrong.. lol
|
TSM played like COMPLETE TRASH as a team. Individually Bjerg was insanely good as usual and the rest of the team was fine but you can't funnel into jungle choke points against a world class Rumble like Balls and you certainly can't waste 20 minutes doing NOTHING while letting Incarnation farm up so he gets all of his items on AP Kog. That was a godawful performance
|
Pretty much sums it up. I don't know what they were thinking. Glad I'm not a TSM fanboy today.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of Incarnation, I think he did well for his first showing. |
Incarnation definitely looked great. He got stomped early but that's to be expected since he picked AP Kog into Bjergson and knew full well that the early laning phase would be rough. C9 is my team's biggest rival but I still like seeing them succeed so if Incarnation pans out that would be great for the whole NA scene.
Still extremely disappointed though, TSM's strategy is basically to hope their individual players can win lane hard enough to snowball. This does NOT work on the international stage, they simply HAVE to improve their midgame objective control and rotations but today I saw no improvement from MSI at all. Honestly Locodoco seems to be the problem to me, I used to think he was great until I started to realize how primitive and unchanging TSM's strategy is despite said strategy being so clearly piss-poor compared to what the Asian regions are bringing to the table right now. |
Any good games today? I had to work...
|
TSM and CLG play today, just another classic rivalry that should yield an entertaining game.
|
Just got home from work.. Hope I can still catch it.
Edit: Sweet just started. Edit 2: Little to close for comfort? CLG throws, I think they coulda pulled it out if they didn't get sloppy. It was close though. |
For balance:
|
Both teams suck ass tbh, the NA scene is extremely depressing right now. Both Xmithie and Santorin LITERALLY picked early game junglers and then decided to farm for 20 minutes. The jungling role for NA is so awful and primitive compared to the rest of the regions, it's really baffling
|
Early season, roster changes, etc.. it always starts out bumpy. I try to give them 3 weeks to work out the early season kinks before I really start forming any opinions about that kinda stuff. The meta changes so often.
|
I'm personally just excited for when Ekko is unleashed onto the competitive scene even though I personally haven't played League in like three months so I haven't seen him in person yet :P
Imagine Faker/Bjergsen on that champ. The PLAYS will be made |
Played a couple games with TheBig3 last week sometime.. Was fun, you need to get back on.
I haven't bought him yet either, I don't spend money on the game anymore, so I just gotta grind a bit for RP. I don't expect to see him unless we get another meta switch or he gets some adjustments. I think people would already be using him. |

Oh you're right. I thought he was from 5.9.
|
CW Airwaks Jungle Tank Ekko.. happening right now.
|
Quote:
He was banned in Origen versus UoL He was used by Froggen in Elements versus Fnatic He was banned in H2K versus SK He was banned in Roccat versus Giants And then finally ran as jungler in the game you just mentioned That's a 100% pick/ban rate in his first day ever of LCS eligibility. |
Aww, I missed the other games. So mid/jungle, did any of the other teams play him top?
