eSports
I don't know how many of you are familiar with the concept of eSports but for those of you who aren't here is a vice doc so you can catch up on the subject.
This video only covers the LoL championship but there are other gaming tournaments for games like Marvel Vs Capcom, Dota 2, Fifa and many others. I imagine for people who are not into gaming these may seem real silly but i guarantee you for gamers this is not, like it or not videogames are at the height of their popularity and are crossing over big time to popular culture HOWEVER is this just a fad or a sign of what is to come? With this happening is not crazy to think that future sports could be played digitally or that even robots will replace humans on the field, as much as this is a gaming subject is a also technological subject, how far are we going to go? i find there many sides to this subject with lots of pros/cons, it brings up many questions and even concerns so im interested to see what you all think

Hope you like it.
Im not a LoL player myself but the concept of eSports filling sports arenas like an actual sport is a little mind boggling to me. i heard they were even given scholarships for this You Can Now Go To College On An eSports Scholarship : T-Lounge : Tech Times This has gone beyond playing a simple game, playing videogames now can have a future. I mean look at the rise of cosplayers and youtube gaming channels, there's alot money being made from all this. ive been playing videogames all my life and ive never seen games be so integrated into our everyday lives as it's happening now. I wonder if eSports will catch up in america, i imagine if it gets big enough it will.

Decent doc. I skipped some of the stuff. I wish he focused more on what the gamers actually go through to get where they are.
It's already pretty huge in America. There are multiple millionaire gamers from youtube/twitch.tv streams. I don't see it ever taking over like it has in Korea. |

Watching other people play regular sports is a stupid idea to me already, watching someone else play video games is even dumber imo.

Making noise is dumb. Listening to someone else make noise is even worse. :O
Edit: All kidding aside I think that's a ****ty way to look at it. We all have something we enjoy watching other people do that we can't do at all or as well. The enjoyment people get from watching sports is like the enjoyment we get from listening to music. To call it stupid is stupid, it's just something you don't get enjoyment out of. I don't watch real sports either, not even the super bowl, but I don't think it's a stupid thing for people to do.

Nah I like playing sports and video games, I just can't get excited when I'm watching other people do it. I guess I'm just selfish.

I know it already crossed over to america but i think it is still gradually seeping in and the rise of american gaming youtubers cosplayers and game cons are facilitating that.
Maybe it will never take off in america but maybe it will cause it seems excessively liking videogames or the internet is not a cultural thing, that is to say, you don't need to be south korean to enjoy LoL to the extent they do.
