Was that not an intentional pun?

I've been listening to comedy on my commute into work lately, and I'm a happy mother****er by the time I get there, but one of the funnier comedians they play is Iliza Shlesinger. Bill Burr is always a riot too. Laughing my ass off at a stop light and looking over to see people grinning at me from the next car is always an extra bonus.

Read through most of the thread. A few comments:
1. Bill Burr is competing with Dave Chapelle to be the GOAT, though Paper Tiger was not my favorite. 2. Dane Cook, while not great, has a few bits that are worth your time. The heist and the "you never leave your cart" bit from those first albums. 3. If you're not up on Chelsea Peretti yet, I think she's great. This bit closes well, but it should give you an idea of if she's your style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dThVdPWYg2k She's weird, but I kinda like that.

I've seen Chelsea and she has her moments. I thought I recognized her from a few bit roles too, like Parks & Rec.
I've been digging some Dana Carvey lately too for some reason. I think it's the magic moment when the coffee kicks in and everything is funny though.

I wasn't mad about it either but I think that the special suffered from poor editing. They splice together several shows for the best bits, but it disrupts the continuity and improvisation that puts him above the edge. The reason I think this is because I saw a phone video clip from around January of him doing a bit that dipped into crowdwork and it killed 100x more than anything from Paper Tiger.

Stanhope is a legend...I love his scene from Louie where he does the porn bit
Here's a genuine question for any and every one... Name one genuinely top tier special by a female comedian. As in not just good for a broad but top tier in general. |
