Children's Media that All Ages Can Enjoy

So I never read the Harry Potter books as a kid but my girlfriend and I have been fixing that (she's a huge HP fan). So far I'm in love with the stories. I just finished Prisoner of Azkaban and saw the film as well. I was also recently rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender in preparation for the new season of Korra (brilliant show), and it occurred to me that I like a lot of media originally intended for children.

Anyone else?

I think that Pixar films and Spongebob appeals I all ages nicely.

"Children's media that all ages can enjoy" is kind of the crux of nerdom, it covers everything from Star Wars and Doctor Who to Adventure Time and My Little Pony. If you want to see more adults celebrating childrens media, look at comicon.

Star Wars perhaps (and even that's pretty iffy) but Doctor Who? I wouldn't confuse pop/Sci-fi type stuff with children's media.

Doctor Who has always been aimed as a family show rather than a kids show.

The Sarah Jane Adventures is written for kids and I would argue it's better written and has a lot of ideas better than Doctor Who itself.

Fair enough but the head writer and showrunner does consider children to be the main audience, ironically he also wrote some of the darker episodes and my personal favourite "The Girl in the Fireplace". Two/Three decades ago children watched Animals of Farthing wood, Watership Down and even Plague Dogs (PG13) I don't think a dustbin on wheels is really pushing the boundaries.

This is true, but you also have to remember he's only one of 11 showrunners that the show has has during it's run. For example Phillip Hinchcliffe who ran the show during Tom Baker's early run said he would aim the show at intelligent 14 year olds & higher and that anyone younger shouldn't be watching it alone.
