I am not a fan of shows that span 23 episodes or more. They just sort of feel like filler, especially if the show is pretty basic.

Don't get me wrong though, there is a lot I like. It just feels like a chore to work my way through a lot of crap sometimes.

You make me sad. It's the kind of show that needs to be more than a season. It's all about the melodrama between the characters and how it develops season by season.

Fair enough. I guess I have been more interested in shows that can tell a story in a less amount of time. They grip me more.

American Horror Story, Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, Bojack Horseman, Sherlock, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Mad Men.

When I compare that selection to Heroes, Lost, Grimm, any 90s comedy show, Fringe and many more, I notice that they tend to dip in quality.

Buffy is a show that lives or dies by whether or not you fall in love with the characters. It's like comfort food where you turn on the TV to spend time with your best friends. There is some great story drama, but if you don't connect with the characters then there's not really any point.

Watch "Chrisley Knows Best" if you want light entertainment. I think he's funny in a ridiculous kind of way, but I'm sure a lot of that sh*t is staged.

I'm confused. How is Doctor Who an example of a show that doesn't span more than 23 episodes?

If your talking classic doctor who then they probably do span 23 or more.

New Doctor Who doesn't though. Usually 13 or 12 episodes.

Look at the episode guide for new doctor who. There is 12 or 13 episodes in each season.

EDIT: think you misunderstand janz. I mean each season is 12 or 13. There is tons of episodes altogether.
