I'm a Writer! A Video Game Writer, Mom!
You try to come up with a video game concept but just because you're an artist trying to make some money. Half of the game is playing darts on the ceiling with pencils.

I'd like to see a renaissance of the 'bullet hell' shoot 'em up. The genre on home consoles today is practically dead yet remains one of the purest gaming experiences ever created. The sense of satisfaction that comes from learning the systems and exploiting them with style to achieve what once seemed impossibly difficult is palpable:

A homo sapiens genetic engineering game, similar to Dragon Warrior Monsters. You play an immense, superior alien who captures and breeds humans for optimum rarity and specific traits then use those humans for certain tasks on a planet.

This, although it would probably be on PC tbph. With Cave seemingly moving away from the genre in favor of the mobile market, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lack of them on this generation's consoles. There does seem to still be an interest in PC gaming in the doujin scene, though, with the more notable examples being Touhou (which is a fantastic series IMO) still going strong and Crimzon Clover: World Ignition getting released on Steam a few weeks ago. Outside of that, the other noteworthy titles that I can think of right now are Jamestown and Ikaruga which, while not being recent at all, got a PC port earlier this year.
