Harold Ramis
Harold Allen Ramis (November 21, 1944 – February 24, 2014) Harold Ramis died today, Febuary 24. I thought he deserved his own thread instead of being tucked away in some thread and forgotten. I don't know how impressed with his work, but he acted, wrote and directed some of my favorite movies. Groundhog Day was one of my all time favorite movies. He was one of the original writers for SCTV, a Canadian sketch comedy show that featured comdeians: Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, Robin Duke, Tony Rosato and of course Harold Ramis. The following list of credit I took from wikipedia's filmology section: Harold Ramis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Spoiler for Acting:

Groundhog Day is one of the greatest screenplays ever written.

Loved SCTV as a kid. He will be missed. RIP. As iconic early SCTV character Moe Green. As the host of a wonderfully cheesy late night Sci-Fi show on SCTV. |
Man I loved SCTV back in the day.

I always love the humour of SCTV. Instead of the typical commercial advertiseing heating and cooling or car mechanical schools, Harold Ramis does one for philosophers. He plays a bit part doctor in the Babe Ruth Story.
And the Canadian icon John Candy as the American icon Babe Ruth, the Japanese icon Grogan and the Irish icon Finian the Leprechaun. |
"Hey Sean. We are the same height. That is neat."
This wasn't neat. He's off to the big Twinkie. |

^ Saw that yesterday and almost teared up.
Ramis was one of the most unassuming actors of alltime. He had such a commanding voice and was such a talented writer. A real shame. I remember the first time I saw Animal House and how much better it was then anything else at the time. Don't even get me started on Stripes. Bill Murray drove that movie, but Ramis made it possible and was so great in his part. Huge loss for Hollyweird. |
