Harvest Moon is different from that, there are more obvious goals and it's more strategic from the start on. Animal Crossing is not so appealing to people who are new to the franchise maybe. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the best out of all released games with the most options, best graphics and soundtrack - and goals like town improvements to archive. Well, there is nothing wrong with a different taste in games. It's just kinda sad to hear that you sent it back. I'd have liked to play online with you someday! Other than that... I think it's quite awesome to play "older" games. I've bought a Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Color for Harvest Moon and Pokemon. Those seem more difficult than nowadays' games. Maybe that's because people are less wanting to re-do levels today!

Aside from Doom... the first PC game I got super into. A 2d rpg of sorts, now available as freeware! Give it a play if you wanna go down nostalgia lane.

the mega man x series seems cool, but i've only played the first so far. i recently purchased the x collection for ps2 though. it seems a bit more difficult than i remember the snes original being (at least the first title), but i could just be rusty. at the moment i can't think of a specific game i've had too much trouble with, but i'm sure there's plenty.
my favorite part about reading this thread is probably the namedrops, since i don't have any concrete opinions on the industry itself and i wouldn't consider myself a hardcore gamer

I want to talk about this game a bit
Now, i don't own the game but i have seen a bunch of playthroughs in youtube, and recently i was seeing the co-optional podcast and they were talking about this game One thing they mentioned is that this kinda game is taylor made for youtube, it's buggy and glitchy as hell and the ridiculous premise of using a goat like a parkour tony hawk character in an sandbox game seems more like a gimmick than an actual game. I hear it's fairly entertaining though and it's cheap too but what surprises me is how a non sensical game like this is actually relevant in today's videogame industry. So we want more ****ty random games about nonsense? When we accept games like this we end up promoting more games like this, because videogame developers don't measure by taste they measure by profit. here is a vid that talks about this what do u guys think?

Not really sure what the correlation between Goat Simulator and the lack of innovation in the AAA games industry is.
Goat Simulator exists because Let's Plays are very popular right now, and just like with Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the devs are banking on someone watching someone else's video, thinking this game looks fun, and buying it. The only thing Goat Simulator does is by being so self-aware of the joke and is an example to the power a few YouTubers have over the medium. |

GS as been well received, so well received it will probably have a sequel and if it sells enough other developers are bound to copy the formula. And then before you know it there is 'Bear simulator' or other ridiculous games like that flooding the market.

There has been some really great games that have come out that are way better than AAA titles. I'm not even sure why you have a problem with this.
