^ Haha! Yes, that's totally Trollheart-worthy!

@ MicShazam:I think you are to be congratulated on a good escape, because one thing I've noticed about modern video games is how dangerously addictive they are.

The other thing I've noticed is how unimaginably sophisticated they have become since my day:

In some modern games, even I can't tell what's going on.

No wonder, the guys 4:3 WoW UI setup is ****ing atrocious.

Looks like a vanilla or BC screenshot but clearly isn't.

The Witcher 3 outgrossed some of 2017's biggest games because it's just that good | PC Gamer

This is an interesting read regarding the gaming industry - how a 2.5 year old game, with no microtransactions whatsoever, is still in steams top 10 highest earning games of 2017.

You'll never get EA, Ubisoft and Activision (etc...) to admit that making better games makes business sense.

Probably true, but truth be told, we don't need them to admit it, we need them to change their business model - and maybe this will somehow provoke them to do so, if they see there is seriously big money in quality, and you can produce games without becoming the most hated company ever.

At least they're not Konami.

The last games that have truly fascinated me concept wise have been Doki Doki literature club and Undertale. Both games have a hidden lore and they play with the programming of the game. Other games in the past have done this to an extent, like when you first fight Psycho Mantis in MG1 or in Eternal Darkness for the game cube where the game would try to mess with you by flipping the world outside down or pretending the game had reset.

I'd like to see more games in the future like that, games that use innovative algorithms to change your perception of the game.
