Gaming on a budget

There's a second hand videogame store a short walk from my home. I've been browsing through the PS3 games there, there's a lot of choices between 10-20 dollars, but I'm utterly clueless on most of them. I ended up getting the first Dead Space for $20. Any thoughts?

Exactly. I don't have a console, just a computer. But most the time I do buy them. You should look for cheap games during the boxing day sales.

PC gaming can be cheap if you feel like buying and building your own rig, but otherwise it does have a bit of a steep buy-in price if you want to buy a pre-made one. That said the actual games can be quite cheap as Steam and other gaming websites like GMG, Gamersgate, Origin and GOG generally hold weekly sales.

Seeing as how you own a PS3 I'm going to say your cheapest route is going to be used games from either Amazon, pawn shops, local gaming shops (with you living close to Seattle there should still be a few around), and GameStop if you're desperate.

Does anyone play runescape? It's pretty cheap to play but it may not be your cup of tea.

As I was saying in my OP I live a short walk from this store, I guess what I was really asking is recommendations for two-three year old games. :)

Turns out I'm really digging Dead Space, tho...

I don't know if your budget can afford it but look into getting the free trial for Gamefly and if you are able to keep up with the monthly fee then you can rent all the games that you want and then buy the ones you like that are used.

As for game recs. Play the Uncharted series if you haven't yet , Arkham Asylum, Infamous 1 and 2. I'm sure there are more but those are the ones that immediately came to mind.
