I remember it was a big decision on what to get between PS3 and Xbox 360. My brother and I opted to go out and get the 360 rather than PS3, and then I bought my own PS3 a few years later. I really don't think there's any debate this time around though, at least not for me. I'll be getting the PS4 for sure.

I would honestly recommend waiting 6 months to a year for all the gremlins to be worked out of the new consoles. I imagine PS3 and 360 games will continue to be produced till 2015 and I would be shocked if some of the other services both consoles provide (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) get discontinued before 2016.
Anyways I think most of the gaming community has been a little too harsh on the Xbone (the nickname of the console). It kind of makes sense to get this boring TV crap out of the way, so they can (hopefully) focus on the game aspect of their video game console at E3. In either case I won't buy one, I had too many bad experiences with the 360 and nothing I've read about the Xbone has really electrified me. Remedy's new game Quantum Break looks interesting, but not the sort of exclusive title that will have me at Best Buy on launch day. It really does feel like the two new consoles are more for people who started gaming with this console generation, who are only familiar with gaming as it is now. Makes me wonder if there's going to be a sort of schism, where older gamers (20+) emigrate en mass back to PC gaming. |

Yeah I honestly can't say I'm surprised that Sony has something similar in play, however it was a very well thought out move to let Microsoft take all the crap first. I don't doubt that there will be some outrage at Sony come post-E3 when we have a clearer idea of what these two machines will be about, but I still see the PS4 having an easier time getting sold this holiday season then the Xbone (at least in the international market).
I also wouldn't be surprised if the Wii U experiences a bit of a resurgence in the next few years once games start coming out for it. It really is the only console that is offering something my PC can't already do, and I also wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be the console found in the living rooms of gamers who primarily use their PC. |

thing about nintendo is even if they don't get a resurgence, they still sell their consoles at a profit(edit:maybe not) while the competitors lose money on each console sold for a few years.
Xbox 360 and PS3 losses total $8 billion, ex-Sony employee paints grim future | VG247 that article isn't entirely accurate just the first on my google. though they say the wii u is sold at a loss as well i know they only need to have an attachment rate of one game with it for it to be a profit |

E3 Press Conferences
I was going to make a separate thread for it but it will be fine here. Now that the price points have been made and all the features announced. Which one are you more inclined to get even if it's awhile after the release date? Price: PS4 399/Xbox one 499. Exclusive games: Xbox has 13 already announced/PS4 has 12 launch titles Xbox One has a stupid always online function that if you aren't connected for as short as an hour then you can't play the game anymore PS4 doesn't have that issue. Xbox One has DRM but you could let up to 2 people use the game and they have to be on your friends list after that you have to pay for the ability to play a used game. The friend has to have been on your list for over 30 days. PS4 supports being able to play used games. Here is a link with more comparisons: which is the better controller, CPU and Graphics Processor, etc. PS4 vs Xbox One: which is better? | News | TechRadar

Besides that Quantum Break game, there's really nothing the Xbone has to offer me. Microsoft has made it quite clear that they're putting publishers ahead of consumers and we can just deal with it and I was pretty much done with the Xbox 360 after my second one RRoD'd. When I feel the need to get a PS4 I will do it, even if it does look like the Xbone but italicized.
Oh and it looks like the PS4 will require a PlayStation Plus subscription for online multiplayer, but in keeping with their pricing of the console it is still cheaper than Xbox Live. |

No, I didn't hear about that,
During the press conference he was kind of stumbling over that point and didn't make it clear about PS+ being a requirement for online multiplayer. Sony's conference destroyed Microsofts overall though. I liked that Sony had a little segment to highlight indie games.
