Nintendo shot themself in the foot with the nasty gamecube controller. It was incapable for fps and the button layout made it awful for fighting games. I've read many disgruntled ramblings by developers wondering how in the fuck they're supposed to port their game to the gamecube.

Sony hardly knows what the consumer wants. This is why the vita is tanking, why the ps3 was doing awful until it was cut to half in price. Blu Ray will be obsolete by next-gen.

just some random videogame thoughts lol
I think Sony will knock it out of the park again with the PS4. PS2 and 3 were both ahead of Microsoft and Nintendo at the time if you ask me. Microsoft **** the bed having an add on dealio for dvds. Nintendo as much as I always enjoyed it is a totally different market then Sony in the big picture. PS3 was also 3d tv compatible from its inception which added a luster that none of the other decks even attempted. I think now its just a matter of which deck you want to own, they're all seemingly a match less the controllers.

Sony makes good hardware, absolutely, but in terms of software are lagging. The playstation online service is still years behind in terms of functionality and social features. You look at the top selling western games and they are all online first person shooters, which makes it social gaming a key priority going forward.

A lot of the things that made the ps3 too expensive for the average consumer are things that are going to be obsolete by the next console period, 3d tv, blue ray, etc.

Sony drastically needs a new controller, they've been running with the same one for like 15 years now.

The Dualshock 2 was imo controller perfection. They definitely regressed in quality with the PS3 controllers, I hate the floaty R1/R2/L1/L2 buttons.

who would win master chief vs Samus Aran?

-Recharging Combat armor
-surgically altered body/muscle structure
-cortana AI assistance
-keep in mind chief is not like the newer class of spartans who are merely soldiers with cutting edge combat armor. He's a child soldier whom earth governments have invested billions in training.

Samus Aran

-Armor developed by (now extinct) alien race the chozo.
-Depending on upgrades this suit of armor can become radically more powerful(gravity, light, dark suit varations)
-Attachments include ice missiles, grappling hook, particle charge cannon as well as the ability to jump for hundreds of yards at a time(with the spin attachment)
-Samus has also been a child soldier, adopted by the chozo. This gives her unprecedented tactical advantages that human soldiers aren't typically trained for.
-She is a bounty hunter first, so motive may be questionable. She may choose to not kill cheif if she can earn more for him alive
-She can morph into a ball

In my opinion you have to go with samus. Master Cheif has more brute force, especially if he can get within melee striking distance of samus, however, with ice missiles (that would freesze chief instantly) it seems implausible that he would come out the victor.

Well if we're going off the Samus from Metroid: Other M then I think Master Chief would win based solely on the fact that he doesn't have to ask Cortana to authorize him using his energy sword thing.

Gotta roll with Chief also. He doesn't have two huge balls on his shoulders weighing him down.

Cheif can only use the energy sword he's obtained from deceased foes, the UNSC does not supply energy weapons as a load out. Master Cheif must still follow galactic protocols and UNSC regulations. But yes, he has more freedom in particular combat scenario's.

Good point. Cheif may be slightly more aerodynamic(especially with his jet pack attachment) however he will still be encumbered by traditional ammo. Samus Aran doesn't have such issue except for her missiles.

N64 had Smash Bros., Mario, Motocross, among other things. I personally prefer N64, but I have both, and they both have their advantages.

This is pretty obviously an age demographic thing.
