Yeah I think Mark Hamill deserved an Oscar myself.

That's true of some but not others (which is also the case in the original trilogy as well). I thought Ian McDiarmid, Christopher Lee and Ewan McGregor were all pretty great in the prequel trilogy.

LOL. Yes, and Carrie Fisher and Warwick Davis as well.

Ewan McGregor is probably my favorite. A lot of people didn't like Hayden Christensen as Anakin, but I thought he pulled off the role pretty well. Granted, some of the acting was a little forced, but I feel like had they chose someone else, it wouldn't have felt right.

I think Ewan McGregor was born to play a young Obi Wan. He saved the movies, in my opinion. And of course Christopher Lee is awesome in any role he takes on...the guy has been an icon for nearly half a century. I'm just glad he stuck around long enough to reprise Saruman in the Hobbit.

I would agree with Ian McDiarmid up until he reveals himself as the Sith lord. That was way too over the top. Watch Return of the Jedi...then compare that to Revenge of the Sith. In the latter he was toned down...diabolical but believable. In the former he was a cartoon character.

I thought his facial transformation through the force lightning was done pretty well if I were to say anything about him. Though, I was sad to see Mace Windu getting thrown out.

It did raise some interesting questions...was that his natural appearance and the lightning getting thrown back on him just revealed his natural appearance or was he truly injured by it? So yeah, that was cool. But it's also tied in with one of the most ridiculous Hayden moments in the series. That was supposed to be THE moment. THE transformation to the dark side. Instead we get a half assed "he must stand trial" reason for ending Samuel Jackson's purple lightsaber wielding days and a completely unbelievable "What have I done? Meh...guess I'll be your servant now."

Well, I asked myself the same question when I saw it and I watched the scene a few times over a while back (hell, i've seen all the movies at least 10 times), and it seems like when the lighting is hitting him, it's not injuring him, allow me to show you:



I'm assuming at this moment, it's showing that it wasn't actually affecting him, he was acting like it was so Windu would stand down, only for Sidius to catch him with his guard down. I don't think it was really hurting him, it was just revealing his face underneath.

lol. Yes, I've watched Return of the Jedi countless times and I think his performances in both that and Revenge of the Sith were fantastic. It makes sense that the character would be more toned down in RotJ, he's been in power for many years at that point and has no need to be directly aggressive, not to mention the fact that he's simply a much older person.

Yeah, that's more what I lean towards as well. He was a human looking guy at one point, tough. If you are a giant Star Wars nerd like me, you should check out the book Darth Plagueis. It's one of the better expanded universe books and tells the story Palpatine described to Anakin about how he was murdered in his sleep (if you didn't guess...that was him that did it).

I can see your reasoning there, but you can be aggressive without being cartoonish. Maybe it was his performance plus a cartoony Yoda fight that just took it over the top for me.

But I'll still agree he gave one of the better performances out of the rest of the cast.
