Has anyone else ever experienced any problems connecting their PS3's to their home networks? I've been trying to get my roommate's PS3 hooked up so I can download Journey, but every time I try and connect, I get told that I was timed out in obtaining an IP Address. Only way I got around this was by disabling my network security, which I don't like doing for obvious reasons. I've also tried entering in my information manually and I still get the same error message. I know I'm typing in everything correctly too, so that can't be the problem.

Are you using a wire of the built in wi-fi? I remember having hassles with mine until I ran a wire. Aside from that maybe look into your network settings to open specific ports just for the PS3? Good luck

We're running it on Wifi, the modem is down in the basement and the PS3 is upstairs in the living room. If I were to drill a hole above where the modem is it would go into someone's room, then we'd have to run it all the way across the house, so that's kind a no option.

What do you mean by opening specific ports though, that's an option that I haven't seen expressed on other forums citing fixes so I'm willing to give that a shot. Could you give me the basic run down, please?

Sorry I'm not much of a network tech it's just something I've heard in relation to issues similar to this. What I assume is you'd find out what ports the PS3 tries to communicate with then set conditions within your router / network settings to not apply security to those specific ports so that the communication can happen without issue.

What are the other suggestions getting tossed your way?

Well I inadvertently when I bought a new router to replace the one I accidentally locked myself out of, so all is good... except for being $50 poorer.

Is anyone else excited for The Last of Us?

I'm nervous it's going to be too much cinema self-indulgent exposition and not enough fun videogame, but the graphics look great.

I've had a look at it, not sure about it but might get it when it's a bit cheaper.
