Even as a kid, I never understood why everyone loved Dragon Ball. Maybe it's because I've been watching more than what the average anime fan watches (since almost all that I hear about anime anywhere on the internet (outside of one forum) is the mentioning of Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, etc.), but I find it to be severely overrated (and I don't normally call things overrated).
What's wrong with liking animation? Last edited by Chrysalis; 08-23-2012 at 06:02 PM. |

I don't think that just because Dragonball Z is an anime, that it is meant for children. The only difference between a real world character and an anime character is that in the real world, things have texture. An anime character is just color. So in my opinion there's nothing that indicates that anime characters are for a younger viewing audience.

If it means that you're not sure anime is supposed to be for children, it's not. Anime is just Japanese animation. There is plenty of serious, adult-oriented anime out there, just like there's plenty of fun, kid-oriented anime. Dragonball is kid-friendly, but so is Adventure Time. Doesn't stop adults from watching that. And if that's not what you meant... then I just wasted time replying to a crazy person. Ah well. Anyway. Am I excited about this? Let's just say I'm reserving judgement. Dragonball movies, animated or not, tend to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I guess we'll see.
