What new TV shows are you looking forward to?
I think it's fair to begin a new thread for this. It's different to "what shows are you watching", and should only feature shows that have not yet aired (or only begun to air) either side of the Atlantic.
As with most TV threads, I think it would be appreciated by all if you would kindly check your spoilers at the door with your coat, or at least wrap a SPOILER tag around them. Thanks. Personally, the following look interesting: Sinbad (I know they've done it before, but I'm anxious to see how they handle this one) The Newsroom (Sorkin. Need I say more?) Awake (is this showing already?) Nikita season 2 (Loved the original, the remake is pretty damn fine too) Revenge (Not sure, but it looks good) NOT looking forward to: Falling skies season 2 (first few eps bored the hell out of me, which is kind of odd for a Spielberg-fronted drama, but I just couldn't care about the characters, the story or, well, anything about it) |
Don't get your hopes up about Awake. They axed it after 13 episodes.
|
I lost interest in Revenge after the first few episodes. I guess it just wasn't my kind of show.
|
Great. Could my week get any worse? :(
I HATE it when they axe shows on the first season, particularly good ones: Brimstone, The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, The Chicago Code, Studio 60... damn them all! Just when you're getting into them, BANG! they're gone. Does Awake end on a cliffhanger? If so I won't bother. I hate being left, um, hanging, with no resolution ever going to show its head. PS I finally got to see Farscape: the Peacekeeper Wars. Now THAT'S the way to wrap everything up neatly, after the series ended so badly! |
It does.
Shame, because I was very fond of the series. |
I'm kind of hoping this new CW show Arrow doesn't suck. I've always liked Green Arrow as a character and it was fun in the '70's when they teamed him up with Green Lantern so they could fight crime and debate their political philosophies (GA is liberal while GL is conservative). I'm not holding out too much hope that this will be a show worth watching, but I'll still watch the pilot episode. Other than that I really have nothing else lined up at least until Boardwalk Empire starts back up again.

Well, it's not new, but I'm pretty amped for this:
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...s5-key-art.jpg I'm not sure where they'll go after the way season four ended (it could easily have been the series finale), but if season five holds even a weak burning candle to the rest of the series, then I'm sure I'll be satisfied and then some. |
how to make it in america already has 2 seasons, but short though, i like alot season 3 should be dope!
|
I always look forward to a new series of Dexter and the first ep of The Newsroom was pretty good. Except for the woman putting on the overly English accent. I can't stand that.
|
The Nikita is it the same as the one that had been airing and they just picked it up again like ten years later? With Shane West? Wasn't there already a season two? At any rate if it is I could perhaps be stoked for it then. =] I liked the show and binged on it for days watching it on Netflix.
Edit to add- I think I could be into Alphas. From the glimpse I saw anyway. |

Edit: Sorry, my bad. This IS the one with Shane West; seems the first season was split into two, over several months, but this is the actual second full season. The previous series, "La femme Nikita", had different actors, so most of the above is just useless waffle from me now, par for the course I guess... |
Having just watched "Homeland" season 1 I'm really looking forward to the new season, due September I think? Though god knows when we'll get it (Sky? Are you listening?)
Also the new season of the Borgias starts tomorrow. Can't say I was overly impressed with season 1, but I did enjoy it. Sinbad looks good too. |
I really need to give Homeland a try. I've heard wonderful things about it.
Anyway, Breaking Bad is going to be it for me for most of the summer, though Hell On Wheels is returning in August, I believe. It's an incredibly flawed show, but they have some good ideas and actors so i'm hoping that they'll pull it together. Even if they dont, though, is pretty entertaining as is; it would have to reach "The Killing" levels of badness before i'd consider quitting on it. |
Really enjoying Sinbad on Sky 1 but the anachronistic language used is driving me up the wall.
Of course the idea that the Queen's English is the native tongue of the middle east is ridiculous too! |
The 3rd series of Sherlock on PBS, and the series Elementary, also about Sherlock Holmes,
I believe it is to be on CBS. Not sure. |
The script for Arrow is really good. Looking forward to seeing how they shot it.
Also really looking forward to Revolution, even if it is just a less-interesting rip off of Dies The Fire. Finally, I really hope Last Resort is good. The concept is really interesting to me! |
Anyone got information on "Hell on wheels"? Looks pretty good, and we're due to get in here in Ireland I'd say sometime in the next month or two. Has anyone seen it? Is it even on in the US yet?

Thanx Jansz. At least it's got a second season, which I always look for: tired of getting into a show only for it to be shutdown at the end of season 1. I like the idea of the history of the railroad, am mildly interested in trains and so I think this may be a decent fit for me. Will give it a go anyway.

This. Looks. Amazeballs. |

I didn't like it, so boring. |
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2
|
Me too! I'm eagerly anticipating Bridgerton's release in September this year. I'm hoping frndly tv will carry it—it's always nice to have a reliable platform for catching new shows. Planning ahead for these releases adds to the excitement, especially when you can enjoy them hassle-free. If anyone has recommendations for similar shows or knows of other platforms that feature upcoming releases, I'm all ears! It's great to hear about different options for entertainment
|
First of all, it is The House of Dragon. Besides, I'm really looking forward to the new season of "Stranger Things". Also excited about checking out some classic shows available on frndly tv . It's great to have a variety of options, especially when they include both new and old favorites. The anticipation for new releases always makes for fun discussions. Can't wait to see what everyone else is watching!

Looking forward to this one on Netflix. Uzo Aduba as a quirky, no b.s. detective? Yes, please. Giancarlo Esposito as an exacting, not very well liked White House staff member? Sign me up. I've been an Uzo fan since Orange Is the New Black and came to appreciate Esposito with his work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Put them together in a kind of "upstairs-downstairs" crossed with Knives Out murder mystery and I'm fully on board.
