Anyone who's into movies at all is without a doubt keeping an eye on this film. It's Tarantino doing a film about American slavery. It's going to be highly anticipated, and probably controversial. It's got an amazing cast featuring Jamie Foxx, Leo DiCaprio, and Christoph Waltz (of Basterds fame), among others. The trailer came out today, you can view it here. Who wants to take bets on how many times they use the n-word? |
well dammit i was going to wait till Friday when i went and saw Prometheus.....but since you just HAD to post a link...... :)
it looks as good as i expected.....spaghetti western set in the slave ridden south with just a hint of black exploitation :)....love the blood splatter on the cotton i bet they use the n-word less than they did in Pulp Fiction :) |
I'm predicting around 50 uses.
|
Considering they're suppose to be depicting some of the worst factually documented horrors inflicted upon slaves by the white power structure I wouldn't be surprised if the N-word gets used quite a bit. Again, given the time period this won't be as uncomfortable as it was in say Pulp Fiction where it just kind of seemed to be there for controversy.

oh good, another crapper from Tarantino. I'm sick of the hype surrounding him, he's just a pastiche machine, nothing he has made since jackie brown is even slightly original!

As far as Django, I think I pissed myself when I saw the trailer. I also laughed my ass off when I heard that Tarantino wanted Will Smith to play Django. |
Oh god Will Smith playing Djano would have been hilarious, but it would have also ended his career as a leading black actor.
