Instant Netflix Thread

I think it would also be good if you would tell which region or country you are in because I know that some movies and shows aren't available in every country. I'll start it off. Spaced If you enjoyed some of the latter Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg material like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and have only heard about Spaced, now is your chance to fill in a hole. All 14 episodes of the comedy series is currently up on Netflix in the US and holy crap this is easily one of the best shows I've seen in recent memory. It really reminds me of early Scrubs with its bizarre, non-sequitur, surreal humour and tendency to have cut-away gags, but remembers what Seth MacFarlene forgot with making these cut-away gags integral to the character's development. Definitely check this one out. |

Netflix Instant has been suffering quite a bit lately. It's slim pickings for movies nowadays after Stars buckled under the film industries pressure and pulled out. It's sad that a great service like this suffers because of corporate penny pinching and property whoring. Who the fuck is still making money off of some Nick Cage movie from 97? Vultures.

I love Netflix instant. I've watched a bunch of shows and movies that I probably would have never seen otherwise. Plus the fact that I don't really like movie theater's too much.
Some TV shows I managed to watch were: Seasons 1 through 3 of Breaking Bad: And some horror movies that people have recommended to me. |

This is easily one of the most intense movies I've seen (alongside City of God and Hotel Rwanda). It's essentially about a young man in the MS-13 somewhere down in south america who wants out of the gang. It's extremely sad and brutal, but this is also most definitely in my top 10 movies of all time. Possibly even top 5. Everyone should see this at least once.

Well the major point of this thread is to help people so they don't have to wade through the thick layers of mediocrity to find the really good things on the service, so here's a list of some of the movies I've watched recently on Netflix that are available in the US.
The Crow (1994) Some movies don't age well with time, and while there are some aspects of this film that look incredibly dated, it's still one of the better comic adaptations and really manages to make the setting feel like a character in the movie. 50 Dead Men Walking (2008) Pretty much The Departed (2006) but set in North Ireland. A man infiltrates the IRA and feeds information to British Police to help stop violence against Irish or British citizens. Trollhunter (2010) Norwegian mockumentary about the day-to-day life of a "trollhunter", a man employed by the Norwegian government to keep the nation's troll population in check and make sure they stay away from populated areas. Some great CGI and cinematography in this film. Session 9 (2001) Well done psychological thriller about a group of asbestos cleaners working on restoring a deteriorating mental asylum that has its own dark past. My personal favourite Brad Anderson movie and one that I like to show to friends as an example of subtly being used to great effect. The Dark Crystal (1982) & Labyrinth (1986) Two classic movies from the 1980's. Chances are you've probably already seen them but they're worth a retread, nostalgia cannot be denied. Following (1998) Christopher Nolan's first feature film, a bleak little black and white piece about voyeurism. Not perfect, but really showcases his potential as a director before proving his chops with Memento (2000), which is also on Netflix. Brick (2005) I cannot recommend this one enough. Modern day film noir set in a high school staring Joseph Gorden-Levitt as he attempts to solve the mysterious death behind his ex-girlfriend. A great little whodunit marred only by a script that can be a little cryptic on your first viewing, but still definitely worth your time. I will add some more later. |

Netflix is my baby. I almost want to buy stock in it because I know a lot about the company and how it works. They've gone through some **** over the last year or two but they provide a wonderful service in watching things that you'll never see in a blockbuster or on television. If you want to get the absolute best out of Netflix then you're going to have to have an interest in the following...
Documentaries TV shows Foreign films Mostly B level horror movies Limited release/Indie films If you're a mall movie goer...you're just not going to find a lot of movies for you. There is however a huge selection of awesome movies to watch on here so I'm going to make a big list for you guys. Documentaries Burma VJ Brother's Keeper King of Corn Collapse Chosin Dear Zachary Witch Hunt Into the Abyss Grizzly Man Until the Light Takes Us Moog Trouble the Water Encounters at the End of the World Touching the Void Waiting for Superman Cave of Forgotten Dreams If a Tree Falls : The Story of the Earth Liberation Front Winnebago Man This Film is Not Yet Rated I am Comic Conan O' Brien Can't Stop The Cove I Like Killing Flies TV Shows Arrested Development King of the Hill Family Guy Futurama South Park The Office Mad Men Breaking Bad Weeds Psych The X Files Parks and Recreation 30 Rock Workaholics The League Archer Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations Twilight Zone Countless Mystery Science Theaters (I consider them long TV shows) Grizzly Man Diaries Firefly Rocko's Modern Life Spongebob Square Pants Malcolm in the Middle Hey Arnold Invader Zim Law and Order Survivor Man Foreign Films Downfall Red Cliff The Edge of Heaven Head On I Saw the Devil The Chaser Tale of Two Sisters Man from Nowhere The Host Mother Elite Squad 2 Alphaville IP Man IP Man 2 R - Point Notable other movies Dial M For Murder Withnail and I American Werewolf in London Jackie Brown The African Queen Ink The Living Wake Time Bandits The Exorcist 21 Grams Valhalla Rising The Messenger Being John Malkovich The Man From Earth The Thin Red Line The Others The Trip Lake Mungo Trick r' Treat Special In the Mouth of Madness Monsters Videodrome Reservoir Dogs Revolver That's good for now. Maybe I'll make a second list soon. Also, if some of those aren't on netflix instant anymore then I apologize. I didn't check the availability on some of the ones I watched a while ago. |

DVD by mail. Instant streaming. You can set up your plan to have as much as four DVDs sent to you at a time. Streaming can be done on almost anything. My damn blu ray player has a damn netflix application. Mostly every video game console can play netflix. Your smart phone and computer can as well. Some smart TVs can also do it. It's fun. |
