This show has exhausted my patience. They used to actually build up to these kind of things (INCLUDING the Red Wedding), now they're just coming out of nowhere and it's stupid and desperate.
Spoiler for season 5 episode 10 spoilers:
They 'built up' to Jon's death by creating all the controversy with the Wildings vs. Night's watch and with Olly and Thorne. I was surprised that Thorne actually did it. I knew he was a prick, but I didn't know he was a complete prick. Also, **** Olly. The whole thing really makes no sense. The white walker army takes priority over some stupid issue with the Wildings. The end result just turns all the Night's Watch who killed him into pure villains and takes out a man who was massively important to the plot. As far as Stannis goes, I doubt he's dead. I'm not sure why it wasn't shown on screen, but I'm also not sure why they'd keep him alive. It felt too odd to just kill him there in such a bleh way after seasons of following him. Weird how Ellaria was allowed to just kiss Myrcella right after trying to kill her and while being known for poison. I'm interested to see a pissed off Jaime next season any how. So much chaos everywhere on the map I'm not sure what's going to happen at all at this point.
I'm guessing that Melisandre is at the wall for a reason. Maybe since she's a red priest she will be able to revive Jon like Thoros of Myr revived Beric Dondarrion, or perhaps something else. I doubt Jon would just be COMPLETELY killed off for some shock-value fueled by blatant idiot plot. Who knows though.
Kit Harrington said he wasn't going to be on the show anymore. That is to be taken with a grain of salt though. If you remember, they officially came out and said that Kahn wasn't going to be in Star Trek Into Darkness. The cool part is that nobody knows. The show is caught up with the books and the fifth book ends with Jon's death. Season 6 will be new for everybody.
I can't convince myself that this is it for Jon Snow, it seems so likely that Melisandre will resurrect him. There's so much foreshadowing it. She practically ****s her robes when she meets Beric and realizes that Thoros of Myr had resurrected him successfully 6 times over. Thoros openly explains to her that it was no biggie and he just prayed for it, no special powers involved on his part. The constant hinting at her having a unique desire for Jon Snow, either romantically or psychologically, while she was at the wall earlier this season. The moment she looks at him and says "You know nothing, Jon Snow". I wouldn't be surprised if she knew this was coming and saw it in a vision, all of the looks she has been giving him just scream "I know something you don't know". She probably thinks he's the reincarnation of Azor Ahai. And it doesn't matter if he isn't, belief is all it will take for her to resurrect him.
She even says while gazing into the flames once:
"I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai, and R’hllor shows me only Snow."
In the books Jon has a dream and it is described:
"Jon was armored in black ice, but his blade burned red in his fist."
There's a time when Melisandre says to Jon:
"This is my place as it is yours, and soon enough you may have grave need of me. Do not refuse my friendship, Jon. I have seen you in the storm, hard- pressed, with enemies on every side. You have so many enemies. Shall I tell you their names?"
How can all of that be anything other than blatant foreshadowing? It's all worded in a way that you could swing it left or right, but come on. When Kit Harrington says he won't be back in Game of Thrones it could very well be a smart-ass way of saying that he won't be himself after resurrection. Beric made it very clear that resurrection causes memory loss.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he warged out of his body and into Ghosts. Maybe the first few episodes will have him dispatching his assassins as Ghost until Mellisandre performs the same ritual that Thoros uses on Beric.
I also hope Lena Headey got a big group hug from EVERYONE after that brutal scene.
