[spoiler]

My biggest beef with Tywin is that he orchestrated the Red Wedding, making him just as bad as the Freys and responsible for all the havoc that subsequently befell the north.

Spoiler for book spoilers:
I hated Tywin not only because of that but because of how he treated Tyrion. I love love love Tyrion, but Jaime is my favourite Lannister after reading the books. I love the relationship between him and Brienne and I ship them so hard.

Unfortunately I'd already spoiled myself about the Red Wedding, but it was still p. devastating. Robb was such a good dude, he didn't deserve that.

I do feel a lot more sympathetic to Sansa also.

Personally I think there is little comparison, the books have the depth that the tv series just can't compete against, the books are hard to put down once you start reading them, whereas the TV Series to be honest is just ok, had they had the budget of LOTR then it may have been different.

I literally knew nothing about this series other than that it had a popular TV series and that it had some kind of a medieval theme. A few days ago my friend brought it up and told me a bit more about the books and I was intrigued by how in-depth he said it was, along with the multiple POVs. Picked up the first book yesterday and I've been completely hooked. It's a shame I didn't start reading them sooner.

I plan on reading the books that are out and then maybe watching the show. I was obsessive about not seeing anything from the films when I read the Harry Potter series, and I think it would be better if I did the same thing for this series. I actually still haven't watched all of the HP movies, but I know I'll eventually have to check out Game of Thrones as it's on HBO.

I really enjoyed last night's episode. Nice having a heavy Jaime episode for once.

Don't feel bad about not getting into the books sooner, genre fiction (and fantasy in particular) is generally only advertised towards people who are already fans of the series. You think everyone who went to see Lord of the Rings a decade ago had read the books?

As far as watching the show and reading the books, I would almost advise watching the show first in order to get all your visual references ingrained in your head so when someone says "Ser Rodrik Cassel" in the book you know exactly who they're talking about it. It also eliminates the bias you'll inevitably have when the writers of the show change something, as you have no frame of reference to compare it to, that's what I've done for most of the Alan Moore movie adaptations and it has allowed me to enjoy both the movie and the comic (with the exception of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) which was just pretty shit).

Yeah same here, it makes me think they're going to incorporate the first few POV sessions with Jaime and Brienne from A Storm of Swords into this season, which has me really excited!
Spoiler for spoilers:
One thing that does have me confused is why Catelyn is going to free Jaime at this point in the story. Unless the news of Brann and Rickon's deaths have already reached her as far as I can tell this seems really premature even by Cat's standards
.

Spoiler for spoilers:
I'm guessing the boys aren't actually dead? I assume they burned the bodies of the two adopted boys Rickon mentioned?
