Aw c'mon even of you didn't like him there's a huge difference between a cocky, arrogant ******* and a cocky, arrogant ******* who's also a rapist. It's a big shift.

I still love Jaime, just book Jaime. Also love how people act like Tyrion is so much better than Jaime when Tyrion actually did rape someone in canon

Me too, but I wish I could love show Jaime too. Such an odd change, I don't understand why they did it!

because the show runners are ****ing garbage. meanwhile, Brienne remains almost flawless (the "you sound like a bloody woman" comment was totally ooc), that scene with her and the Queen of Thorns was all I've ever wanted in life tbh. oh and oberyn OMG, I mean I love House Martell anyway but ugh he's so perfect and I'm so happy they didn't make him straight

"when it comes to war, I fight for Dorne. When it comes to love, I don't
choose sides" yass

Oberyn is possibly even more perfect in the show than in the book, didn't think it was possible. Illyria is pretty great too. Dorne is my favourite.

everything about Dorne is perfect tbh, even their food. I keep saying this but
the Sand Snakes better be in the show

There was rape in all of season 1. Why anyone all of a sudden gives a ****, I don't know. Dany got raped almost constantly.

You can't take that world, apply 21st century 1st world standards to it selectively, and then have 14 billions articles by xojane, codeswitch, and the like come out and expect me to take them seriously. Even that ****-rag Salon wrote "Sorry, but you can't root for Jamie anymore?"

Can't I? Who can I root for? I'd love to know who's done the right thing in that show.

They decided it needed something more than wandering for several episodes.

I think they've pointed out the fact that those situations have been changed twice now and are starting to be puzzled why. I honestly found the Drogo/Dany relationship in the show a bit ick.

Though the world mirrors a medieval, fantasy era, the story is written from a modern point of view so I can see why it'll be difficult to cut itself free from modern values.

I for one can say, and probably many other viewers that we saw (or at least started to see) Jaime in a modern redemptive light. So I think the scene was more shocking from the character who did it than just being another rape scene (even though I don't see it serving much of a purpose so far), unnecessarily deviating Jaime's character, and fundamentally changing him.

I'll keep tune, and see if this is a plot device or something that serves no purpose but to shock.
