Sure, there's moments for Dany, Sam and Sansa, but it's not all leading up to a mad climax like the first two books and a some characters don't really get all that much attention. Obviously I'm not a producer and I haven't even read book 3.1 yet so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I can't help but be slightly worried that this year's season could be a slow burner.
Well you're a bloody fast reader!

Don't worry about the slow burner thing though, George himself has said that the first four episodes are build-ups, then the other 6 are meant to be pretty mad. You've read the book so you don't have to use your imagination.

so with all the excitement of the new season i felt it was high time i gave the entire series another read....

Spoiler for spoilers for book 4 and 5:
i have got to say that the idea of Jon Snow's parents being Lyanna and Rhaegar is getting much stronger with me....it seems to me that at least in the first book Ned in specific says many things that would make that becoming a fact very believable....my problem is if they actually ever reveal his true parents....who would tell him?....the only other person that would seem to have that information was Maester Aemon....and you would think he would of told Jon when he told him to let the man be born and died....the only other person i can think of is Aegon

it's kind of fucked up....it seems that Jon is a bastard no matter what....i have to admit i'm digging Jon a bit more this time around

edit....i'm not on book four or five.....i'm a pretty good reader but not that good .....i'm about to see shit get super real in book one

George basically confirmed that more or less in a conference interview thing recently. I will try to find it for you, The producers said that GRRM interviewed them when he was decided whether or not to allow them to make the series, he asked them who *his* parents were, they gave the answer that they suspected, and GRRM gave them the job, or something like that.

Howland Reed was the only other person who knew, and maybe someone he or Ned told that they trusted. Either way, Jon will find out eventually.

He's a child. Jesus.

Also, this season is insanely slow moving. I was told Book 3 is the best. So far I am unimpressed. And no, I'm not debating this with you - it painful.

It's also stretching it out across two seasons, so I think that may be why we're off to a slow start, although to be fair the first few hundred pages in A Storm of Swords were pretty uneventful if memory serves.

In any case I enjoyed tonight's episode far more than last weeks.

You can confidently tell me that regardless of what I have or haven't done. And just the same, I'd still be right.

So if he's only a few months younger than me, does that make ME a child?

I liked book 3 best as well. I've not read them since the first time but I can remember being most shocked by book 3. The second half of book 5 is great as well, the first half bored me to tears.
