I'm about 3/4 of way through the first book. The tv series makes lot more sense now. I'm going to hold off watching the 2nd season. It seems to fix the images I get without much of my own imagination while reading, and that just ruins it.

I'm always intrigued on what new readers think about the series, also who are your favourite and least favourite characters?

I'm actually reading the series again and am now getting an even greater feel for the depth of the series this time around. I've read the first four books and so before starting the fifth which I haven't read, I'm reading them all again and I've practically finished the first book.

I'm jealous in a nice way of course I always wish I'd had some type of artistic talent.

Has anybody on here purchased the official maps of the world. I bought them the other day and they are quite impressive. I would've liked a more detailed one of Westeros though.

My friend bought them and gave each of his friends one for free. I got one of them, a large map of Westeros. There are also new continents and lands revealed to the east and south of the shadowlands, one is called "Ulythos". Very creepy looking! Ha, I am such a ****in nerd.

I've noticed that there are a huge amount of lands further to the east of the Dothraki Sea and also to the south. I'm wondering how much attention they will get in later books, as at the moment these places often get mentioned. I find that Ulythos and Sothoryos to the south interesting as well.

I often try to read about the history of the world etc but the problem is I don't read too much in case something I haven't read in the latest book is mentioned.

The characters are still unravelling so I'm not really confident to say. They're pretty grey so it will take some time to get the gist. So far, first impressions, I really like Jon and Tyrion. I'm a bit of an Eddard fan but his grim attitude gets a bit tedious at times. Besides having a short part, Robert was awesome.

As for least, I'd definitely say Viserys and Joffrey.

The others I'm unsure about but I've started to take a liking to Robb as well. I'm a bit intrigued by the Lannisters, but I don't know why. They have this subtle depth and insecurity that makes you question how they really feel about the situation.
