Yeah, it's really hard to find myself caring about the political intrigue in Essos when I have no real idea of what the geography or political landscape even looks like. I mean we know that the people of Braavos are bankers, then Astapor, Yunkai, and Mereen are a slave-based economies, and Qarth is based on trade from the far east, and the Dothraki pretty much live off plunder and tributes to not plunder, but that still leaves a vast continent that is really unexplained. Then in A Dance with Dragons it's just all thrown at you at once with all these new characters with strange names and customs and it gets very overwhelming.

Jon's wounds smoke while Bowen Marsh cries, providing the prophecised salt, and Ser Patrek's bloody, star laden heraldry is in the air above.

When Melisandre looks into her fires for Azor Ahai, she sees only things to do with Jon or snow, which he thinks must just be ash but she sees a possible connection to Jon.

Jon Snow has a dream where he fights the Others with a red sword burning in his hand.

If having the Blood of the Dragon is a prerequisite, if Jon's father is truly Rhaegar, Jon would satisfy that prerequisite.

Jon chose his duty to the Night's Watch over his love for Ygritte. He indirectly caused her death by warning Castle Black of the incoming wildling raid. Similar to Azor Ahai sacrificing Nissa Nissa to complete Lightbringer.

I think it's Dany personally, it's more sensical to me. I love reading the theories on AWOIAF, some theories are really dumb tho, like Ned being alive

this is the best tho http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Frey_Pies/Theories

I can't get behind the idea of Ned really being Jon's father. It's way too out of character for him, plus the eight million other reasons. I really think he's Lyanna and Rhaegar's.

'Game of Thrones' casts 'Rome' actor as Mance Rayder -- Exclusive

Oh yes, he did an excellent job as Caesar in Rome and I think he's a great choice for Mance.

Ciaran Hinds is a great character actor and has been in some really good TV series here as well. I've purposefully stayed off this thread despite creating it as I've yet to read book 5 (done as two books here) But I'm now getting such a craving to read it, I may have to do so in the near future.
