Meh. That latest episode might be my least favorite from TWD. Not sure why but a lot of it seemed unnecessary. Dialogue felt kind of stiff too. Maybe I just need to rewatch it, but I've also felt like the last few episodes could have had more to them without having to jump between groups every episode. I miss coralllll and rick. I guess all of these episodes are preparing up to the midseason finale anyway, though.

Spoiler for and:
How did that van manage to land like that? It was clearly flipping over yet it magically landed on all fours. Seems like an odd mistake or did they just get lazy?

However...

Spoiler for ...:
I did really enjoy seeing Atlanta again. I'm interested to see how Rick is going to handle the hospital group considering he is a former police officer himself. I kinda feel like this is all leading up to something that's going to be pretty predictable in terms of who lives and dies... hopefully not.

How does this new group hold up against a group like the hunters? Rick's group blasted through them unexpectedly... will this be different? Will Season 5 pick up back to the likes of the first 3 episodes it stormed in with? When is Rick going to shave that beard? Is Eugene's mullet okay? Life's most important questions for me right now.

I agree, I thought a lot of the dialogue was just an attempt at character development that didn't really add anything to the picture. Darryl's a different person now? No way! Carol was abused? Shocking!

Last two episodes felt quite mediocre, hopefully the slow burn is building up to something at least somewhat unpredictable.

Pretty certain this is definitely the case and I'm pretty sure all of the extra attempts at character development hints at the fact that one of those characters will die in the big final battle.

Please be Darryl.

The idea of the character development between them is a good idea leading up to the next episodes, but it just didn't feel right to me for the reasons you state.

Spoiler for look at the flowers:
It would have been interesting to see Carol tell Daryl about the girls considering how much Daryl cared for Sophia. Felt like the episode was leading up to that but I guess not.

I doubt that. Not unless TWD crew wanted to shock every Caryl diehard into 'rioting.' I'm pretty sure Kirkman is going to do it somewhere down the road even better, though. I'm not attached enough to this storyline to make his death seem worthy.

Spoiler for full boner:
I'm wondering if Daryl is going to have an appointment with Lucille or something along those lines.

Spoiler for 4x12 - Still:
One thing for me to mention is that the Beth and Daryl episode way back then that everybody hated but me was a lot like this one but I felt like the character dialogue held more weight. I was really starting to like the Daryl and Beth scenes before she got abducted. She cant die, we need more apocalypse songs.

Spoiler for Look at the flowers II:
She asked him if he wanted to know what happened to the girls and he replied with something like "They aint here are they." Implying he knew they were dead.

Spoiler for Flerz:
He knows they're dead, but it doesn't know how. That's. why Carol replied to him with, "It was worse than that."

That Beth and Daryl episode is probably my favourite ever episode of TWD.

Spoiler for But...:
The point of the scenes centered around abuse weren't a reminder or a recycling of Carols abuse but rather Daryls abuse as a child, and I'd say a further connection between Daryl and Carol.

For me this episode was mostly further exploring the way both characters have changed, continue to change, and the relationship between them. I think there's actually a lot of minor but interesting details included in this episode.

Given the scene was filmed with four identical vans, two of which were genuinely pushed off a bridge and destroyed, I'd say you might be looking into that a little too much.

Chula Vista 11-18-2014 02:27 PM

Spoiler for Van + Physics:
Considering that Daryl and Carol were sitting in the front of the van, the engine's in the front of the van, and the back of the van was empty, it really should have landed on its nose. But since the show's about zombies, I cut them slack for these types of minor details. :p:

Dang. I wasn't expecting the mid season finale to go down quite that way.

Spoiler for comic book spoiler + mid season finale spoiler + character death spoiler:
I love that they took the comic scene where rick runs down martinez and kills him and did it in the show that way with the police officer

RICKTATORSHIP: THE SECOND COMING

I was hoping Rick was just going to kill everybody there so that was a bit anticlimatic. I wanted another hunters style scene in Beth's honor. What a weird way to kill her off.
