Tony Hawks Pro Skater
I remember being a little kid and playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater on my Gamecube and really digging the music. I never thought to actually listen to it. I've been into punk music for a couple years and hearing Millencolin and Goldfinger and thinking back to how happy I was back then makes me smile. Does anyone else remember playing this game? I feel old.
Also, we have a media subforum where we post about games and such. Is this thread more about the music in the game, or the game itself? If it's the music, then I'll edit the title. If not, I'll move the thread. |
I guess move the thread? I'm not sure, you decide if its about enjoying the music or the game.
|
It's your thread. If you want it to be about the music in the THPS games, then that's what it can be. If you want to talk about the game, then so be it. It just needs to be in the media forum if it's just about the game, because we like to keep our music sections about music.
Edit: I'll just move it. |
Ahh my youth. I played the N64 and PSone editions of the game. It was my first introduction to Rage Against the Machine. :)

http://www.atariage.com/2600/screens...eBoardin_2.png The music tended to be a limited range of bleeping and farting type noises, but I guess in a lot of ways those sounds did influence my taste. |
I can thank Tony Hawk games for introducing me to Del, before I appreciated hiphop...
Went from guilty pleasure to pleasure real quick. Also, I have a soft spot for that one CKY song... but don't remember the name... |
The music in the Tony Hawk games usually annoyed me, especially the music from the second game. The song I found the most annoying was one that went something like "and this is what it's like when worlds collide" just before it hit its stupid refrain. I don't know who plays it, but I hope it was cheap.

*EDIT* Sounds like KoRn's Dubstep album. |
I'd say that THPS2 was one of the main factors in pushing me into punk music. I'm still a huge Lagwagon fan.

Since they've been brought up, I must reiterate: This is not good Powerman, but there WAS good Powerman. Their early works were very great in my book. The b-sides album they did, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is an absolutely solid record. True Force and Blood Splat Rating System are also very solid. When they 'took off', that was them falling off. @LoathsomePete Yeah, that's the song. 96 bitter things or whatever. |
i think the music from the SSX series is better
but maybe it's apple and oranges |

The only game series I've enjoyed the soundtrack of (that featured "mixtapes" rather than composed scores) are the GTA games. San Andreas stands out. Of course, you could then just switch to the radio channel which featured the musical style you liked the most. |

You could do anything on Tony Hawk. Makes kids dangerous! Haha. I remember trying to grind crazy stuff on a skateboard and getting hurt because I did it so many times of Tony Hawk of course I could do it in real life. Hahaha.
|
The gameplay in the old Tony Hawk games doesn't hold up very well. The way you just speed off after a kick on your board is just out of control. Skate is so much better!
Talking old classics in that genre (pre 2005), I consider SSX3 to be the best game, really. |
