From what I learnt so far, the Imperials expanded into Skyrim from Cyrodil after outlawing Talos worship.

I'm not gonna worship Talos but the dude deserves respect for saving Nirn from Oblivion crisis, it's not right the Imperials outright censor him and pay him no respect as a hero.

He's pretty much Elder Scrolls Dragon Jesus. If you ignore that, you're just setting Skyrim up for Oblivion crisis mach 2.

Is it just me or is Skyrim actually a lot smaller than Cyrodil?
As far as I've gathered the Imperials have a lot of support in Skyrim from the Nords, as for who is better suited to ruling Skyrim, I've still yet to decide

Skyrim is definitely smaller than Cyrodiil, Cyrodiil is one of the biggest provinces in Tamriel, based on the maps on the internet.

Talos was the man Tiber Septim who founded the empire. He's supposed to be the greatest human hero there ever was and - as its founder - is obviously revered by the empire at the time of Skyrim (the game), just not as a deity. Prohibiting Talos worship is part of a peace treaty between the empire and the Aldmeri Dominion.

I thought Cyrodiil was depressingly small (it's like one valley/crater with one big town in the center) and Skyrim to be larger. I believe the size of the game world is actually similar for Oblivion and Skyrim, but Skyrim feels larger to me, perhaps because it has more "nooks and crannies" or how you spell it
The most important thing I think about Skyrim to the Empire, is its location. If Skyrim were no longer part of the Empire, they would not only lose a huge chunk of their territory but it links Cyrodiil to High Rock which is part of the Empire. Without Skyrim High Rock would be isolated.

Yeah but why? What's the Thalmor's angle? Why are they afraid of Talos? Seems like a propaganda move to get the Empire under their control without a fight.

If I had complete free control, I'd rather take control of the Empire, change the position of Jarl to general of province militia, declare full on warfare with the Aldmeri Dominion and leave the people of Skyrim to worship whatever the hell they want as long as they fight against the Thalmor and follow my laws. Which is basically kill mudcrabs and wear kneecaps.

Maybe I haven't explored the whole Skyrim map yet then...I think it's probably because of the Oblivion planes.

If you're a member of the Thieves Guild, you'll have an option to pay off debts at a significantly lower price (or for free) than you would otherwise, but I don't personally know of any way to settle a debt between yourself and a hold via a Thieves Guild proxy.

In any case, try "submitting" when a Falkreath guard attacks. Basically approach one with your weapon drawn, let the guard hit you a couple times, then sheath your weapon. They should then interact with you to prompt you for jail time or payment. Do it several times until it works. If it doesn't work after multiple attempts, trying spending a few days elsewhere and going back and trying it again.

Might not hurt to have a speechcraft buff just in case.

Who do i talk to within the thieves guild? I've already completed it and am their new leader.

I do submit, and then i say "take me to jail" or whatever, but then immediately after another text question comes up and no matter how many times i press it it doesn't go away, and then im forced to press "back" which makes them wanna kill me.

I have the ps3 version and its pretty lousy, as is with all bethesda games on the console. Need this 1.4 patch

As long as there's a PC version and you have the computer to run it, I would advise any gamer to consider getting the PC version before the console version. There's simply more you can do with the PC version of the game (mods, graphics settings and more) and if the game's glitches screw you over somehow, you have console commands that can help you out.

Finally I'm getting upto decent levels in the game and on level 21 now. I thought I'd spend the last several days finishing off some of the many Misc quests that I have, before continuing with the main quest....well after several days of doing that, I've now got even more misc quests to do than ever

Im sure people could just replicate it in mods even if it didnt come out. Have you heard anything about how many or when expansions would come into play? I realize the game just came out but I would guess they are already working on something else. Kill cams are right out of fallout!

ps. Yac I love how you stay off the forums for the most part but spearhead the Skyrim thread

I work out of view of mortals (read: I do post, but mostly in the mods forum :P), have been for a couple of years now. There comes a time when one has to stop lurking :P Now if you only would find me some extra free time, I could spam the forums with my ramblings more
To add to the topic:
I realize this could be done using mods, still I'd love to see many of the features included in the coming dlc, I feel new features are utilized in official add ons in a better way, there is more balance etc. Of course there are exceptions from this, I come back to Fallout New Vegas from time to time and last time i checked, I'm running it with 12 active mods (and no dlc :P), but it took some time for the mods to reach a high enough quality level.
And finally, what I came here to post: The great battle of Skyrim. One of the best, if not the best, Skyrim video I've seen.
