Well that's because technically thieves don't attack. They sneak past and steal In the thieves guild they frown upon killing on the job!

Yep I use archery for long range and usually dual wield daggers for close-up sneaking. There's an awesome damage bonus skill point for sneak attacking with one-handed weapons in the sneak tree I think. It has always been my favourite class in Elder Scrolls games. Perfect for like Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild etc.

That's true, there's also that strategy you can use of planting poisons on your enemies which doesn't require any melee skill. Sounds like a pretty cool and different way of playing the game.

I went around doing that a bit .. One of my favourite ways of killing people was actually to leave potions of rage (or what they're called) in their inventory. The potion would make the person go berserk and attack anyone close, perhaps you. Then they'd get killed by guards.

Fun way to do the dark brotherhood quests!

Heh, and I thought this type of exploit died with Fallout 2 and the old "pickpocket a guy and leave him a backpack full of armed c4 explosives".. guess it didn't
Tuna - you're probably right, but at the time I stopped playing this character my destruction was only around 48 so I wasn't really that powerful Plus I used mainly novice and apprentice spells, I assume that expert and master become a lot more useful (read: powerful) after you unlock the perks that decrease their mana cost drastically.
Anyway, I haven't really touched the thief and Dark Brotherhood quest lines yet, so no spoilers please I know that the DB quest line was the most fun one in Oblivion, I heard great things about it here and I hope it's at least as good.

It's not an exploit. You have to buy the right feat from the pickpocket tree to be able to do it.

That's a relief. I can see this being a game mechanic, there's plenty of room in this game for stuff like this - but if it was an exploit, it'd be sad.

It sure is a lot of fun, but I don't think it's a feat I'd pick up early in the game. Poisons just aren't that good.

Would be interesting if someone managed to kill a dragon that way

Won't spoil, but the Thieves quest line is the best DB isn't as good as in Oblivion!

But do you still get the beheading kill with 2 knives? With one I get it about every 4th kill.

Nah I haven't seen the beheading kill! But there are some really cool duel-wield kill animations...

Anyway, I think I'm going to start the game over. I have run into so many bugs that have ruined certain storylines for me. I can't buy the Riften house because of some bug that I activated by doing something... and I can't become guildmaster of the Thieves guild because the did all of the guild quests in the wrong order.

I love Bethesda but there are just sooooo many bugs!
