Apparently the latest Adam Sandler movie stars him playing two characters. I ****ing hate films that do that.

As a general rule I'd say I agree with you but I have seen it done well. Adaptation comes to mind.

I don't know, Eddie Murphy pulled it off well. Even when he wasn't being funny he was damn good at making characters.

Sandler, however, seemingly only can play one, and is Sandler no matter what he does so this is bound to turn out weird.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

Now that I think about it though, I don't much like comedic funnymen in films. I prefer comedies where actors from other genres play comedic roles.
Along those lines, I find it interesting to watch Tom Hanks perform as a funnyman in his earlier films. Especially after Saving Private Ryan.

I think Kevin James is pretty funny personally. Not the funniest guy in the world or anything but he has his moments. I'd say he's funnier than David Spade but less funny than Chris Rock.

i only really liked Mr. Deeds and still do, cos the great supporting cast he played off on more than Sandler himself

the Cure-bit in Wedding Singer is chuckle-worthy

that's about it

i'd go for Ben Stiller if you're talking broad comedy

Rezz, if you posted an image, it hasn't shown up.

Haven't seen Adaptation.

And I largely dislike Ben Stiller as well, though I am meant to understand I should see the Royal Tenenbaums, but that's more because of Wes Anderson than it is Ben Stiller.

I would recommend it strictly because of Gene Hackmans role, although Stiller is excellent as the overbearing father figure.
