I don't doubt the sincerity of this film but it is ridiculously over rated.

I will say that Jon Cazale is magnificent in this movie though which does add brownie points.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.. ................ that's actually a pretty good summation of the movie. Still, it was one that stuck with me long after I first viewed it so that's gotta count for something.

You should've gone ahead. Dead Man is one of my favorite films.

yeah, it's also great - I love all the early Jarmusch films - and the recent ones.

Two guys sitting at a table staring at their beers (Stranger than Paradise) is more interesting than 99% of what Hollywood sponsors today.

My unpopular opinion:
Anybody who thinks that The Matrix is goundbreakingly philosophical should know that Plato said the same shit centuries ago.
You should have already known this stuff before the Washowski Bros. and Keanu informed you in 1999.

Those are the only 3 of his movies I've seen but I will agree.

Not sure why you would hate on people finding out the same philosophy via a movie as opposed to digging through Plato's work to find it. It still gets to the end user regardless of the source.

No hate.
My unpopular opinion is that people should be more interested in Plato than Keanu Reeves. We all learned about Plato as children (allegory of the cave ring a bell?). Almost nobody cared until they saw The Matrix. Then they gave the cred for the knowledge to Hollywood bs. I've met people who thought the W bros. made this stuff up.

Because it allows for this kinda bull**** to get made
Amazon.com: Taking the Red Pill: Science, Philosophy and the Religion in the Matrix (Smart Pop series) (9781932100020): Glenn Yeffeth, David Gerrold: Books

Seriously read the user reviews. This movie is like a cult.
