It's not based on the Norse myths/legends/folklore, it's based on the Marvel Comics superhero. But then I guess it's easy to miss the gigantic "MARVEL STUDIOS" logo at the beginning of the film.

I thought it was pretty good. It translated to the screen a lot better than I thought it would. Really excited for The Avengers now.

Thor was great you guys! Much, much better than I expected. The effects were cool too, but didn't distract from the story. Natalie Portman was cute and funny and Chris Hemsworth fit the lead roll perfectly. I was also surprised to find out Kenneth Branagh directed this, but gotta say...good going Ken. And, for those who don't like excessive violence, swearing or sex, it was good, clean fun for the whole family.

Definitely one of the better comic book adaptations out there.

What? Hollywood raping European literature and history for it's own cosy ends? Never!

Have you seen Valhalla Rising? I think that it would blow your mind (unless you don't like introspective cinema that is!). It's very slow and ponderous but probably the best recreation of the Dark Ages I have ever seen on film.

Where is the fun in that? Sounds even worse now

It was decent for me, not too good, not too bad. Great effects and story....But just kinda crappy moments at times...

Yeah, it's not "Thor", it's "MARVEL'S Thor". No reason to be boorish and take **** seriously.... christ.

Nope, never even heard of Valhalla Rising. I'll have to check it out.

Lately I've been watching a lot of westerns or movies with western motifs. Films like Ghost Dog, Jr. Bonner, Wild Bunch, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, High Plains Drifter, El Norte, etc.

I've also had my mind ****ed by the discovery that the elderly are not wrong in heaping praise on Breakfast at Tiffanys and Casablanca.

I take issue with Marvel fooling around with norse mythology Thor was a fun watch but eh.. Thor wasn't Thor the adventurer god of thunder and Loki wasn't Loki the god of wit, fire, and missdemeaner at least not for me.

I saw the movie and there was some eye candy but the plot was disappointing and it never had any hope of me taking it seriously.

I wore my mjölner pendant when I went to see it.

3-D was ok, but not necessary. Would rather have paid less money and simply watched it in regular 2-D.

Barry: BULLCRAP!!!

Rob: How can it be "bullcrap" to state a preference????
