Whereas a human would have just said $6000! I thought it was pretty funny. Then at the end it ended up with some weird amount of money. I'm sure if Watson could wager cents, it would LOL!

That was brilliant. I really enjoyed watching Watson initiate the takeover of the computer overlords... I just still dont get where the weird wagers come from.... But Watson is truly amazing. The sheer power that goes behind him is just awe inspiring. Im pretty impressed.

I actually decided I really like Watson.

And remembered my deep love for Ken Jennings. I didn't care for Jennings much his first 14 or so episodes, but he grew on me.

Watson obvs. still has some glitches to work out, but it's definitely a very impressive bit of technology.

It was a fun tournament. After day 1 I actually thought Brad might win.
I loved Ken's comment in brackets at final jeopardy.
He's geektastic.

I guess it was maybe random numbers. between their score and his score (look at that, me saying "his" score).
There's a fair amount of reasoning in wagering...what's their score...if I bet this much and win I will have more...If I wager this and lose I will have less....and so on.
I guess the programmers can only "train" Watson so far. Set up those parameters and then a random number comes from that.
Although Watson can't set those parameters based on his confidence level, like humans can..."I know a lot on this subject, therefore I will wager higher". So it's kind of a shot in the dark.
Interesting to think about.

I don't think his wagers was based on random numbers. He was programmed. Nothing about him is random even though to us it may seem random. The numbers that he used for the wagers was based off of the percentage of how correct the answer might be. If you paid attention to the little bar they were showing at the bottom, you would see that.
