Movies that have grown on you.
I haven't seen a thread addressing this topic. Are there movies that you've seen that were meh or even bad that have gotten better with time? Are there movies that you didn't quite get at first?
Minority Report- I saw this movie right after graduating high school. I've always saw it ok, but recently I caught it on HBO and it is pretty awesome. It has a great plot and good action. I now see it as one of Speilberg's better movies and even though I don't like him Colin Farrell was pretty good. |

The Time Traveler's Wife- When I first watched it, I was bored to tears and just wanted it to end. I have watched it three times since my first viewing and I have really fallen in love with the movie. it's a guilty pleasure film for me most definitely.

The Village: All right. I'll give you that it's not a great movie at all. I saw it in theatres, and it was the second time in my life I wanted to demand my money back ("Darkness Falls" being the first). With that said, my mother decided to watch it when it came on our movie channels, and I had nothing but bad things to say for the movie. When I watched it the second time, though, I found it to be an almost pleasant, simple movie. I'd already seen it once, and had thus not been expecting the suspense / twist ending which most of Shyamalan's movies are characterized by (with varying levels of success). In all honesty, I thought it was easy to watch, and kind of interesting in its way. Not something I absolutely love now, but it's something I won't turn my nose up at watching again.
Bringing Up Baby: The first time I watched this one, I was six or seven, and hated it because Katharine Hepburn's voice creeped me out. Once I got over that, when I was eleven or so, I really loved the movie. One of my favorite classic comedies, for sure. Cary Grant is wonderful in it.

I think just the fact that its on every other day is why. That and there are so many cliche redneck metaphors used in script. Typical of what I grew up hearing no matter how overused they were. Just the lingo and overall situation is typical of a life in the south sadly. The way the whole movie depicts typical redneck behavior is bar none. From drinking and driving to sleeping with your best friends wife etc..etc. I find it a little more amusing each time I watch it. Even though the story line is crap and the overall acting is something to be desired to say the least.

Movies are much harder than music in that you do have to invest much more time and concentration on them as opposed to an album that you can just dip into track by track.
You can't do this with film unfortunately and this means that there is a hell of a lot of really good films that fall by the wayside.
