sure I will do a little mini review for each one. The version that I found on netflix thanks to Janz is saying that there is some sort of trilogy for Golem which will be even more interesting to see the three films back to back.

there are three Golem movies - the original in 1915, the "lost" one in 1918, and the third one (which Janz mentioned) which is the most famous one (1922), because it is still resonant today and provides most of the basis for James Whale's version of Frankenstein - my DVD comes with a scene comparison between the two movies

with one movie "lost", I'd doubt you get to see the trilogy

He also banned most Fritz Lang movies after Lang deserted Germany, except for the Uber Alles "Metropolis" and "Die Nibellungen" (both written by Nazi sympathiser and Lang's ex-wife Thea Harbour)

I have a strong interest in Weimar-era silent German films

Like I mentioned earlier, the main characters are Jewish. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

That's a misnomer. Hitler adored Lang. Metropolis was one of Hitler's favorite movies. In fact, from what I've read, When Hitler met Lang, and Lang told Hitler he was half Jewish apparently Hitler said something along the lines of "It's up to me to decide who is Jewish, and who isn't."

Says a lot about Hitler.

Goebbels however hated Lang's films, and believed they were nothing more than Jewish propaganda. He had them banned.

well Hitler upheld Goebbels' decision so indirectly he banned them also

The Golem is a Jewish myth/legend. He is given life by the Star of David amulet to help abused and mistreated people.

As for Lang, "The Testament of Dr. Mabuse" is a direct metaphor for the Nazi Menace.

And also, it contains the blueprint for bringing Berlin to ruins and Germany with it.

of course, Metropolis is National Socialist propaganda, it was only when Lang made the second Mabuse film that the backlash started and also when Goebbels offered Lang directorship of UFA (the German film academy) and Lang refused, that the Nazis started to hate Lang
