Adaptation was painfully average. /unpopular opinion.

Leaving Las Vegas is Cage's best performance. I love that film.

adaptation is great and i love the screenplay. there is so much going on and most of it is fascinating. it has great performances all around, especially chris cooper.http://media-2.web.britannica.com/eb...4-ADF21590.jpg

on the other hand, i thought leaving las vegas was average. maybe i just hate you.

I'm not gonna lie, I think it's a possibility.

Adaptation was a bit slow and quite disjointed, I can see why people like it as much as they do but meh.

Add it to the list along side Saving Private Ryan, ET, Scarface and many other overrated films.

Matchstick Men was pretty damn good.

i liked matchstick men too, but it bothered me how similar the characters were and the close frequency of the two films releases.

i will give you ET and scarface, but I liked saving pvt ryan. it wasn't revelatory or anything but it was excellently crafted.

It was, but Cage was type-cast in that role, so I couldn't rightfully include it with his best performances.

For several long, War aspire to a kind of cop-show procedural tone, shows us the ins and outs of various shady deceit and double-cross, which consume nearly a vast network of evil. In other words, the kind of thing that Michael Mann, warmth and safety, it is a good thing and a bad choice for a movie about a rogue assassin who kills unnecessarily club bouncers with small blades.

Taxi Driver, the perfect display of someone's loneliness making their mental state deteriorate. The way you relate to Travis' character and then he begins to betray you. Perfection.

Surely this should be films that are close in terms of subject matter and stylistic imagery? They both share a few traits but Taxi Driver V Light Sleeper would be more apt. Both written by Paul Schrader and both deal with characters on the edge of society. In fact Schrader has said that Taxi Driver is a character in his 20's, American Gigolo is the same character but in his 30's without the back story and Light Sleeper is the same character but in his 40's. Light Sleeper is an absolute gem. Shame more people don't know about it :(
