City of God wins in a shutout of 6-0.

This next battle comes from FRED HALE SR: Gangster movies!

Francis Ford Coppola's THE GODFATHER (1972)

The Godfather by a ton. Scarface has not aged well at all, it's so damn cheesy.

Ja I'm gonna go ahead and say The Godfather as well. Both films are classics but the only thing that Scarface has on The Godfather is a better film poster.

Godfather - 2
Scarface - 0

I knew Scarface would get bludgeoned to death in this war. But what the hell else do you put against a perfect movie like The Godfather. The Godfather is my favorite movie of alltime, its perfectly written, acted, filmed, I bet even the buffet in the back during filming was epic.

Godfather - 3

Scarface - 0

I did feel Scarface doesn't hold up very well over time but I thoroughly enjoyed it for the time period. The original uncut version when he starts chainsawing the guy to death was awesome footage as was the coke induced Pacino gun fight. Pfeiffer still was relatively hot in this movie also.

4:0 for The Godfather. Like my mother says: "The only movie that's better than the book."

Almost impossible to separate. Two films from two different decades, the Godfather a perfectly told and acted story about the NY mafia families. Scarface so contemporary for the 1980s and a work of violent art. Going with Scarface here as it was more original than the Godfather. The Godfather was simply an excellent update on those early 1930s gangster movies, whereas Scarface just re-wrote the gangster genre.

Godfather- 4
Scarface- 1

I'm going to have to go with Godfather on this one. I never particularly liked Scarface, even when I was a teenager playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and trying to learn all the references.

Godfather - 5
Scarface - 1

I like Scarface. It's fun to watch (and yes Mr. Hale, it features young Michelle Pfeiffer who was more than just "relatively" hot) but it's got nothing on The Godfather. The latter is a masterpiece full of top-rate acting and storytelling while Scarface is just a few hours of fun.

The Godfather: 6
Scarface: 1

I don't hold The Godfather in the high regard that most people do. But, the conscience I've seen in this battle holds true for me. Scarface is fun and enjoyable to watch, but the Godfather is just better in all aspects (acting, directing, story, cinematography, ect...) compare to Scarface.

Godfather- 7
Scarface- 1

As per usual, I've voted for the option that's taking a real pounding on here.
