Godfather all the way, regardless of Part 3's being one long, pretentious borefest.

Godfather 3

Goodfellas 0

debaserr 08-06-2010 05:46 PM

the interval between 2 and 3 allows 3 to be crap.

TheCunningStunt 08-06-2010 06:12 PM

Goodfellas 1
Godfather 3

Easily.

Nah, but you were referring to a female American, which I think makes more sense than a male American preferring Trainspotting...

Violent & Funky 08-06-2010 06:54 PM

Godfather 4
Goodfellas 1

I don't care for Goodfellas so The Godfather wins by default...

lol wasn't the point I was making. She just loves John Irving.
As a non-American female, I still can't get what gender's got to do with it.

Anyway,

Godfather 5
Goodfellas 1

I really love Goodfellas, but Godfather is just the Master.

Dr.Seussicide 08-06-2010 07:01 PM

Godfather 6
Goodfellas 1

Easily

On a side note, I missed the last one :( Would've voted for Pulp Fiction though.

TheCunningStunt 08-06-2010 07:02 PM

Don't get how Godfather is winning so heavily in this one, Goodfellas is far more entertaining.

You don't understand the idea of a "girly" movie?

James 08-06-2010 07:06 PM

Godfather 6
Goodfellas 2
If it was Godfather II I'd say that.

bungalow 08-06-2010 07:11 PM

As a girl, I hate "girly movies" and the idea that they know what girls enjoy. So no.

bob. 08-06-2010 07:20 PM

The Godfather is...The Godfather!....there are few flicks on the subject that can beat it.....Goodfellas is one of them though....i just feel that Goodfellas really shows the scum bag ethics of the mafia....you love and hate all the characters....and they are all absolute dicks....no romanticizing it...just scum....pluss Goodfellas to me is much more re-watchable

Godfather - 7
Goodfellas - 3

I kind of get kicks out of the idea of John Goodman being a supernatural sweaty man.

TheCunningStunt 08-07-2010 08:13 PM

Watch Fargo. It's great.

And I haven't seen Barton Fink, but I really like the Coen Bros so I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.

NumberNineDream 08-08-2010 03:58 PM

I haven't seen Barton Fink, but I've seen a biopic about him lol. This guy has lived! I'm pretty excited to watch the film, just got the DVD.

James 08-08-2010 06:48 PM

Really late tonight guys, sorry :(

TheCunningStunt 08-08-2010 06:50 PM

James 08-08-2010 06:51 PM

raising arizona for me. whats up with all the coen brothers shit?

storymilo 08-08-2010 08:40 PM

It's really close, but I think No Country for Old Men. If it wasn't for Javier Bardem it'd be Raising Arizona easily.

No Country for Old Men: 4
Raising Arizona: 1

I wonder what your favourite Coen brothers film is...

debaserr 08-08-2010 08:41 PM

No Country 5
Raising Arizona 1

Close for me too.

bungalow 08-08-2010 08:53 PM

all this love for a film whose message boils down to: there is no hope?

bungalow 08-08-2010 08:55 PM

oh, and if you think there is, you're dreaming.

It's actually probably a tie between Fargo and The Big Lebowski. I just like The Dude.

bungalow 08-08-2010 09:00 PM

the big lebowski is a truly humanist film, and the coen's best. far better than the trash that is no country.

Fargo/No Country/Big Lebowski are all my favourites, I think Fargo is the best one they've done though. I didn't 'get' the Big Lebowski the first time I watched it, mainly due to high expectations. You know when you're watching a film and you think hmm okay. I thought it was a bit weird at first (which was the whole idea. duh) then bits from the film resonate with you and make you laugh hours after you've seen the film.

Like that.
