The set was obvious. It just seemed like an extremely corrupted universe, maybe cause it felt more like it's local. We have no skyscrapers, and I'm a big fan of smoke. Seemed like a German Expressionist decor, or easily a Neo Noir film. Definitely dirtier than the real world.

Interesting. I love the Burton Batman movies by the way. But as far as feeling local goes, I used to live in Chicago, where the Nolan movies were filmed, and because of that they really had that local feel for me. One of the craziest things in The Dark Knight for me was seeing the hospital blow up because I used ride my bike by that hospital all the time on the way to my friend's apartment.

Although The Joker was much superior in the latter, but The Dark Knight seemed a bit too revolved around the villain, and somehow I hated Batman's parts. They just seemed to linger on. Plus, I preferred Batman Begins to that one.

The Dark Night- 8
Batman- 1
i thought dark knight felt more realistic(it should be with all the cgi). what better villain could you think of than heath ledger's joker to revolve a film around?

Dark Knight - 9
Batman 1989 - 1

Although Tim Burton has made some excellent films, I prefer the Dark Knight. Not to mention Heath Ledger's outstanding performance as the Joker (although Jack Nicholson was good in Batman)

I did say Heath Ledger was far superior as The Joker, but when Batman becomes a filler in his own film, and praying for The Joker to finish him, there must be a problem somewhere... and I did say I liked the exaggeration on the set of the earlier Batman.

I had a theory about Nolan's Batman project being set to be a trilogy, with Batman Begins showing Batman obviously, the sequel presenting the ultimate villain, and finally the third showing both of them equally in the final clash. With Ledger's death though, and his remarkable performance, I don't think they can replace him.

I think where Inception fared better than most other films is that its used symbols to deliver a meaning that didn't beat you over the skull, was still logical in the actual plot it had layed out, and lent itself to multiple interpretations.

Its narrative was probably the best thing I've seen in quite awhile. Curious to know what you meant by good film/not good film though.
It was just a lot to take in, 2.5 hours. I also recognize just because I like something doesn't mean it's good and vice versa. I can't really describe it very well but pretty much I like to watch Ed Wood movies but they're god awful.

i heard somewhere that the joker won't be in the final film. also that he(nolan) is excited because he gets to have some finality to it. batman's voice in the nolan ones is a bit annoying i give you that.

^ I didn't notice them in the first one. However, in The Dark Knight, I was laughing uncontrollably during his scenes. It was pretty ridiculous indeed.
