I'm indifferent about Beavis and Butthead...but MTV showing music videos again? No freaking way. I never thought this could happen.

Whoa.
It's been a while. This should be interesting.

I think its fantastic that Beavis & Butthead are coming back. Mtv2 shows reruns of it like once a month for an hour. But they play Rob & Big everyday for like six hours. They need to show more Beavis & Butthead. People want to see it.

what is?
i honestly can't see this flying again. someone posted a big article about how MTV was dropping the term 'music' from its slogan and description so this announcement seems odd - especially with no comments from either side. odds are they don't want to own up to how badly the show is going to be shanked or they're fighting over money. plus the whole greatness of that show was its ability to relate to a bunch of bored teenagers doing EXACTLY what the characters were doing - being bored as hell in front a tv and flipping through channels until they found something cool. when is the last time anyone saw a teenager just sitting on the couch and flipping channels? no cellphone, no texting, no internet. just basic cable and the couch. doesn't really seem to happen much anymore. music stations are moving away from the idea of playing videos for the simple reason that involves scheduling them and (at best) very limited control from an audience that could just as easily queue up their favourite videos in youtube before 'this quick promotional break' wraps before the music on tv starts. now if Hank Hill is still the neighbor and Beavis and Butthead get to have their way with Bobby (like Todd did to them) every couple of episodes it might be worth watching. |
